I had taken three unsecured loans about 24 months ago when I needed a new car to get to and from my self employed jobs. A few weeks after this two of my biggest customers went under basically over night and it wiped out around 70% of my income. I started missing payments and had collection letters coming every few days and…

I’ve been in a DMP since Feb 2014 and I’ve got 3 more payments, then I’m debt free. Woohoo! All but one of my creditors defaulted me within eight months, so by October 2020 I will nearly be default free. However, Littlewoods didn’t default until October 2015, some 20 months after I told them I was in a DMP. I wrote to them…

Who teaches their children about managing money?
My Dad was very debt averse. Neither a borrower nor a lender be was his mantra. He was a high earner but he never threw money around and he was adamant we should stand on our two feet financially so I think that taught me to manage my money well.
