So, so annoyed!!
I've been using this site for years and managed to turn good habits learned from Martin and forumites into being debt free - but this past year have managed to rack up a credit card debt of £2.5k again. I have taken steps to balance transfer at 0% and know what I need to do to make better financial choices, and I know it's…

Best way to tackle these?
I've just checked my credit report after two years of burying my head in the sand due to being in hospital almost constantly so my debts were the furthest things from my mind. Now that the new year is upon us I'm hoping to straighten these out and was wondering if there's any way to get the amounts lowered? I have £8000…

My ex stole my identity for a credit card!
Hello, I recently broke up with my ex-boyfriend and a few days later, found out that a couple of months ago, he had stolen my identity to get a Capital One credit card. He spent a lot of time at my house, and had the card sent to my address so I was completely unaware that it existed. Capital One called me last week,…

I have been made redundant after a long while with a company. I will be receiving my redundancy next month and wondered whether I should still be adding to my sinking funds whilst I look for a new job. I will be paying my debts off with some of the redundancy and using the rest to pay for other bills until I get a new job…

Younger me it turns out was an idiot, and I'd like to make changes

I'd like to get debt free as quickly as possible (as I'm sure we all would.....). I've just been to see my bank who I have £9600 of unsecured debt with, and they…

Aligning expectations
This is only my opinion, and is aimed at no one in particular, but there seems to be a huge difference between what I percieve as necessities, and others who are failing to get out of debt, percieve as necessities. We see time and time again, forumites enjoying luxury items, whilst trying to get out of debt. Ive seen many…

Down but not out... time to make some major changes
Hi, I was going to do this in the New Year but I have decided to grasp the nettle today! We had our LBM a while ago and have made serious changes to our outgoing since September. We have a long way to go, as you will see from my SOA. The debts have been racked up due to many years of disorganised spending, consolidation…

Jacobs Enforcement
Looking for some advice. I had a payment arrangement with Jacobs a few months ago and silly me thought I set up a standing order for them, but it only set it up for one payment. Therefore I had a letter from a bailiff stating removal would happen within 48 hours unless I rang them (his name was Matt Burraway). So I did and…

Advice needed about debt and being a guarantor
This is for a friend who has just been left in a dire situation by her partner walking out on her suddenly. She now has no internet access so I told her I'd try to find advice. She has been in debt for a while now, and got an agency to help but they're charging her £25 every month for their services, which she really can't…

11 years a slave - end of my journey from £103,500 in debt
Hello fellow DFWs. It has been a long time since I posted here, but today has been such a momentous day that I felt compelled to write something. Apologies in advance for the long post. CCJ papers for old debt 6 years+

MBNA and Lloyds
Just a warning to anyone who has debt with MBNA and who also banks with Lloyds. You should concider moving accounts after Lloyds buys out MBNA in a take over deal. It's possible that the creditor could use the write of set off to take back what it's owed, so please be aware of this, and change accounts if it affects you.

Hello, So my partner and I are in a bit of a pickle. We moved house recently and the cost of the renovations has crippled us. It cost us so much more than we were expecting and stupidly have used credit cards to help us do so - having already had high loans previously which still paying off. So we now find ourselves -…
