Yet again!
Yet again, I find myself here in a financial pickly mess. Yet again, I began to pay extra to my debts, and yet again I seem to have undone any good work that I did by using my CCs more. Yet again, just ended up paying for things like car work, vet bills, horse stuff... all essential but I had no cash to pay for them. Yet…

58k in debt to frugal living..
I'm not new on here, but I'm starting a new diary as I keep trying to be a more regular poster, so new start and all that. You'll see from my signature that we had a hideous amount of debt which bit by bit we have paid off and are nowleft with just under £10k to clear. A few years ago, we both got made redundant in fairly…

Just me and my HappyGirlie Diary...
Helloooo :) I've been lurking for a couple of years on MSE and have been greatly inspired by the DFWers and the MFWers and Old Stylers and Frugal Livers that have control of their finances... and are creating their life as they want it. I have seen heavy debtors become debt free, read of people with mortgages become…

MM - If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes....
A brand new diary is needed! I attempted one earlier this year/end of last year but although I wanted to become debt free I didn't really change anything! If nothing changes, nothing changes. Our debt has crept up and up and it's frightening. Something has to be done about it. We are currently selling our house as we have…

Miss Make a change must Make a change
Steps forward and announces LBM 353... Okay, well I don't actually know how many specific "I must stop this" moments I've had but this is the last! I am totally fed up of this debt lark! I have it coming out of my ears... Loan (Parents..), Overdrafts (Student), Credit cards (Lets not go there just yet). I tallied it up…

The final push to financial freedom
I’ve had a couple of diaries on here before but have let them slide, although I continued to lurk for inspiration! The short version of my story is that I had my LBM in 2010 at the age of 25 - at that point I owed just over £11,400. This was from years of overspending (I got my first CC at 18!) and living beyond my means…

Self control....? What's that?
Hi everyone :) I’ve been a long time lurker round these parts but all the lurking in the world doesn’t seem to be improving my situation so hopefully talking about it will! I’m 22 and I’m still living at home with my parents at the moment but am hoping to start saving up for a house deposit with my boyfriend. I’m not…

Reality Check
Morning everyone! This is the first entry of my first debt diary, which has come about after my wife and I suffered a shocking reality check last week! I should say that I have been involved in the forum for a few weeks, but I've activated a new username this morning as my previous one was too recognisable, and I'm not…

Keeping head above water - Almost
So I've done reasonablely well to get our debt down from 20k however it went up from 13k to 16k with the wedding as there were a couple of issues. My husband has just started working on a new 24 hour contract, down from 39 and also has taken a pay cut of £1 per hour on top of that so that he can go to college and do an…

A new way
Soooo... I want a digital camera. Normally I'd pop it on a card, but I'm trying something new. I plan to make enough money using other means than my day job. I started by switching bank accounts. £100. Thanks Halifax. I then sold two tops on Facebook for £20. I used £10 of this to buy a solid pine table and benches. I've…

I am the credit crunch
Just checked my DMP and only have 3 payments left. That will be 40 payments of £890, a long road out of debt, but had I not taken this path,I would still owe almost half my original debt. To put it into context,I was previously paying £1200 a month and barely paying off my debt due to interest charges. My advice as you can…

I've hit complete rock bottom.
Hi All, I have actually read this forum anonymously for years, as some kind of inspiration whilst my financial situation fluctuated up and down, but now I've hit the point whereby I felt i had to finally register and create a thread, akin to my username this is my last resort - I don't know where else to turn. I'll try to…

DFW journey starts today
Hi Been lurking for a while but today I am determined to get things under control - so this is my fourth step! Here's my background info! I half inherited a house last year so have finally moved out of the parents and in to the real world of responsibility! The key reason for my debt is that the house needed extensive work…

Light Bulb Moment Today - Feeling positive!
Hello, and welcome to my diary. I'm new to all of this so hoping I've done this right (Please tell me if I haven't!) Steps taken today: Snowballing calculator done - was pleasantly surprised - been paying…

Battling the Thread-debt and Improving the Weyr
Hi, So diary time... First a bit about me, us and where we are: I am in my late thirties, married to the most amazing man for nearly 5 years although we have been together for 16.5 years. I love reading, especially sci-fi and fantasy and Anne McCaffrey is one of my favourites - hence the diary title! My husband, henceforth…

Start of the DF Journey
Hi All, After a recent decline at the bank for another debt consolidation loan I was finally forced to confront my bad spending habits and how I plan to get rid of my spiralling debts. So I have gone through everything I pay for what I owe and have made some huge inroads in the past 3 days. Present debts: Halifax CC -…
