Hi everyone
I’ve been a long time lurker round these parts but all the lurking in the world doesn’t seem to be improving my situation so hopefully talking about it will!
I’m 22 and I’m still living at home with my parents at the moment but am hoping to start saving up for a house deposit with my boyfriend. I’m not really sure how to explain how I got in this financial…. Untidiness. Probably just because I have serious FOMO (fear of missing anything that ever happens, anywhere, at any time, with anyone…) and an inability to get through the day without either physical or online shopping.
I’m going to post an SOA and hopefully a bit more info but I wanted to make the first post before I chickened out again!!

This is the most current SOA for November. There are a couple of things I know myself are ridiculous and have cancelled from December, e.g. gym membership, I've cancelled this and started a new one for £12 per month.
I really hope I can take advice on some of these areas as I can be stubborn as heck. Entertainment I'm trying to reduce but I'm banished from the house Fri-Sun and money fritters away quickly away from home
The money to my mum does need paying back from my next wage, obviously once that's sorted everything will reduce. This SOA is really just a guideline of the other costs that I can hopefully keep to/reduce to start saving.
Suggestions welcome0 -
Hi diary...
Probably the least successful first money saving day ever?
Call off my auntie at lunch asking for me to pay for her home insurance on my card as she doesn't have one.... getting the money back tonight so shouldn't be an issue, except I'm getting it in cash and I can already see myself frittering it away!!
What is wrong with me, really? Why can't I hang onto money at all?
Bought lunch as well, even though I had a perfectly good, ready-made lunch in the fridge. Chalking that to experience I suppose.
Massively disappointed in myself0 -
Hi Bethal,
I too have been lurking around the forums for quite a while, although I am not in debt I am trying to save money to buy a house in the next few years.
I know what you mean about shopping, it's so hard to resist! Clothes and house furnishings are my greatest enemy...Besides the day to day bills (Me and my BF moved out of our respective parent's home just over a year ago). Obviously we can't avoid those.
Hope you have a better saving day tomorrow

Well, payday today. Time to see how frugal I can really be in one month!
The money I have available after bills this month is £370, which really should be more than enough but somehow never seems to be.
Spending for today:
£13 for a gig ticket for a show on Saturday. Hopefully will save me money, as usually I'd go out for food/drinks and spend upwards of £40. I'm setting a target for the whole night of £30, including the petrol to get there.
Going to keep a spending diary this month (hopefully I won't forget after 3 days.....) and see exactly where my money is going.0 -
Hi Bethal, hows that diary going?0
