Watch the debts decrease

This is my dairy, I've been a long time lurker and learnt a lot. I have debts which I have had for the last five years but now it's time to grow up and act my age. Debts are as follows:

Mum £7000
Friend £2000
Over draft £2000
DD £500
CC1 £300
CC2 £780
Cash convertors £165
Total £12745

God that's a shock but this time I will stick to a budget and start paying it off, the reason for starting the diary now is because my student loan comes into my bank tomorrow and I can make a real start. The over draft isn't too bad as its interest free on my student account.

I can budget when I try but then I seem to go off the rails but this time I will really do this, the only big expense I have is my mum paid for me and DD to go to Disneyland so I need spending money for that.

OK plan for tomorrow I am going to pay the following:
£1000 spending money for the holiday but hopefully I won't need all that, £1000 to my friend, £165 to cash convertors, CC1 £300 so that will be clear, and £500 to DD. That will be my student loan gone but I can afford to live on my part time job and child tax credits etc until I get my loan again in January.

Well there's my plan and I'm going to start meal planning properly and stick to it this time. I think I might do my shopping online it costs a £1 for delivery so I would spend more than that on petrol to get there and there will be no temptations to buy extras.

Well off to get my essay done.

Welcome to the boards. Whilst it must be tempting to use the loan to pay off debts, I would seriously think about having a contingency fund of say 500, so that if an appliance breaks, you have the money to replace it without putting it on a credit card.
    Good luck with your journey

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • I'm quite lucky in that respect as all my white goods are brand new ish well only a year old, I figure that they will last until at least January.

I have had a NSD well sort of all my debts have been paid off as I wanted, I feel so much better that the figures are going down and the biggest APR ones are gone so the rest are all 0% APR. It was scary watching the money going down and down.

For dinner today I have made HM vegetable and chicken pizza, its loaded with peppers, mushrooms, onion, spring onion and I have used some cooked chicken up that really needs eating today, for DD I have made Marconi cheese as she hates pizza, so both of us have meals done for today and tomorrow. My pizza smells amazing and it's making me really hungry.

  • Half term with DD this week and I have decided we are going to de clutter the whole house and finally sort out stuff we don't use/need and get rid. Anything worth selling will go on ebay or facebook and the rest to charity. I am hoping once it's sorted out it will be easier to clean and it will get less messy.

  • I have had a baking day, made two banana loaves one with walnuts and mixed seeds and another with strawberries in too, I don't know why I keep buying DD all the fresh fruit I do I end up cooking with most of it. I went food shopping and got three huge rump steaks for £3 so I was really happy with those nice to have a treat once in a while. I kept to my budget of £30 too well I was 12p under so that's me really starting to think about money in a more mature way. Next week shouldn't be very high as DB is coming up for the weekend and cooking for us on Saturday night and I said he could buy the food seeing as he forgot my birthday in April.

I'm hoping he make lots of curry like he always does and I can freeze some I love his curries. Well that's about it for today well apart from I have loads on ebay so hoping I will make a bit from that too.

  • OK disaster has struck, my cars boot stopped working and now I have had to spend all my holiday money plus some on fixing it. I am sat here working out how many extra shifts I can fit in it's the story of my life best laid plans and all that.

Positives, I have £289 coming in from ebay minus fees. I now need to find £911 before 14th December and do I have a plan well no not at the moment I need 20 days work but I can't fit that round uni, and I'm all out of things to sell. So all I can do it cut down the food bill and be really inventive. I can't tell my mum the mess I'm in as she paid for the holiday all I need is the spending money.

well I'm off to think and probably cry :(

  • Feeling a little more positive amazing what a nights sleep can do. I have decided to just chill out a little bit and save as much as possible. I have done a full inventory of all my food and I have loads of food that I can make meals from so back to planning properly it is so this is how the meals look for the week:

    Sunday chicken pesto pasta bake
    Monday left overs
Tuesday Lemon and chilli salmon potatoes, peas
    Wednesday left overs
Thursday Gammon in coke with rice and veg
    Friday left overs
Saturday Pork chops, mash and sweetcorn

It means I just need milk, bread, mushrooms and cheese for the week we have loads of fruit and veg in I only buy frozen veg as I find it has gone off before I can get it eaten. The mushrooms are for DD as she loved raw mushrooms and will eat them like crisps lol.

Right best get to work hate it when its raining as I work outside.
