Olympic Games and council tax charges on Londoners.
There is not actual thread I could put this under, so has placed it here. Will it still be down to Londoners only to pay towards the olympic games out of their council tax? or have they broadened it now to the whole of the country? Does anyone know the answer to this?

Worked only 6 months of the year - was I being taxed as if I worked the whole year?
Hello, I was at university until August 2010 (not employed), when I got a job in September 2010 that ended earlier this month, March 2011. I'm just curious whether I would have been taxed as if I was working the entirety of the tax year, and not just those 6 months (Sept till March)?

P800 Tax underpaid.
I would be eternally grateful for any advice on OH's situation. P800 for year 2007/2008 shows an underpayment of £1090. "you had two employments at the same time and both employers were applying a PAYE code giving the full taxe free allowances - you therefore received more allowances than were due". I checked the PAYE…

council tax credit brought forward - why?
Hi, I was pleased but surprised that on my council tax bill for 2011/2012, we are having £550.75 of "credit brought forward", thereby reducing our tax for the upcoming year by a third. I have no idea why though. We've been in this house for 18 months. Any ideas?

Gobsmacked at IR mentality!
My cousin was one of the unfortunate ones last year to get a tax error correction demand for £500 or so; she duly paid it back over a few months out of her meagre wages and thought that was that. Not so! Last month she got a letter from the IR explaining that she shouldn't have paid it back yet, that it should be deducted…
