in Cutting tax
Hi,
I was pleased but surprised that on my council tax bill for 2011/2012, we are having £550.75 of "credit brought forward", thereby reducing our tax for the upcoming year by a third. I have no idea why though. We've been in this house for 18 months. Any ideas?

It could be any one of a few things - property re-banding , overpayment of council tax, council tax benefit , discounts or exemptions.
If your unsure you need to ask to make sure it is correct.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
