I recently made a phone purchase for over £200.00 using my VISA debit card. Once making the payment i became concerned over the merchant reliability, so cancelled the order. Following a less than convincing phone conversation with the Customer Services dept, I also cancelled my Debit Card (for reissue with new number) and…

I'm aiming to have all of these paid off by the end of the year or new year at the latest, as I'm paying quite a few hundred a month onto them at the moment, just want to try and minimise the interest. I actually…

Advice on what do credit card wise?
Hi all, not sure if anyone has followed my last thread regards a car I 'purchased' proving to be a stolen vehicle (clone). To cut a long story short it looks fait accompli now and it will be at a total loss of £3400 and nothing to show for it. This has put my finances in a bit of a pickle as I had expected to sell the car…

Card opened short period then settled
Does having a credit card active for a short period (say 3-6months) before cancelling it have any impact on your credit rating? So the card is settled on your credit report, which would presumably normally be a +ive, but could there be any adverse affects of this from a lender's perspective?

Unenforceable debt?
(long post warning sorry!) I got into some financial trouble years ago (2005) and defaulted on a number of debts. Two of these were credit cards originally from c.2001 (MBNA, Marbles) and were quickly sold to Cabot. I have cleared all of the other debts now, apart from these two. I have a perfect record since on my payment…
