Free sky subscription + Skycard 0% until May 06
Ok. Well not quite what the topic is, but in theory is possible. Like all applications, theres a ton of small print to read through. Key questions, that I will be researching (unless anyone already knows) is 1) How many points do I need for a free movie ? 2) How many points do I need to pay off my subscription of £19.50 a…

Tesco Credit Card - Withdrawal of Free Travel Accident Insurance
I've already posted about Tesco credit card before, but thought this might deserve a post on its own. Im not sure anyone actually uses it but they are withdrawing the Free Travel Accident Insurance from 31 December 2005, so if it's one of the benefits you want from a credit card, best to look elsewhere me thinks!

Tesco credit card - notice of variation - interest up front ?
Hi all Being a good little minx, having received my statement from Tesco credit card, I scanned it as normal and noticed a lovely little slip containing a notice of variation. Balance Transfer Fees – Misinformed by customer service?
Balance Transfer Fees – Misinformed by customer service? In the Balance Transfers article on this site, my top pick cards are those which offer long 0% transfer offers without charging a hideous fee for the privilege, namely RBS , Natwest and Lloyds Platinum. However, I get numerous emails, and see a lot of forum comments…

MBNA policy
When is a credit limit not a credit limit ? My wife was offered what seemed like good deal at 3.9% from MBNA, but was unaware of the perils which awaited her. When she made a puchase which took her 74 pence, YES, 74 PENCE ,over the 'limit', she was hit with a £25 fee, an interest charge of £59, and a hike in interest rate…

SBT to reduce mortgage interest
I have an offset mortgage. If I get a 0% for 9 months credit card that does fee free transfers into current accounts (SBT). Say they give me a credit limit of £5000, I transfer the full amount to my current account & set up a direct debit for a monthly payment of £555.56 per month (£5000/9). The extra will be against my…

Balance transfer to a bank account
I am about to order some new double glazing costing £3500. I would like to take advantage of a Balance transfer (BT) card with 9-12 month interest free, except I don't want to transfer from a credit card (the double glazing firm charge an extra 2.5% if I pay with a card). Instead my intention would be to pay the £3500 out…

Virgin MBNA - HOW MUCH!
I am currently seething with this bunch. I had originally used the card to pay off a transfer, so I was at zero balance prior to this little lot. I am organising a ski trip, for a group of 8 friends, and booked our Eurostar tickets on this card. As the people paid me, I paid the amounts off the card. Sadly one paid…

Conran card - be careful, it's run by MBNA
I recently signed up for the Conran card but after just a couple of months I have cut it half. The Conran card is serviced by MBNA, and there have been a number of unfavourable articles and readers' letters about MBNA in "The Independent". I got stung with a £25 late payment fee. The company also claims to run a 24 hour,…

Is the Egg Anniversary offer about to disappear??
I was just checking the Egg site for details of the Anniversary offer. I've been a cardholder for many years and never knew about this (until MSE.com told me so) however... I've copied and pasted (and I hope I'm not breaking any copyrights laws) a couple short paragraphs covering the Anniversary offer. Look out for the…

Cash advance from barclaycard - help required
My son left his debit card at home on Friday and didn't notice until he went to buy lunch on Friday. Of course he didn't have any cash either. So he thought he would buy lunch from Mcdonalds using his credit card but none of the city centre ones would allow this. So faced with the prospect of no lunch, he decided to…
