ACCUCARD INTEREST RIP-OFF
My partner has always paid his Accucard card in full every month for the past two years. Last month he had a £1000 balance and decided to pay only £800 and carry forward £200 for next month. When his next statement arrived he found out he had been charged interest on the full £1000 for the full month despite knocking off…

new credit card user, alittle bewildered
Hello, I recently chose to register for an egg credit card. I'm about £500 short to buy a used car and I deemed this would be the most sensible way to do so. Now my card arrived this morning and I planned on 'transferring' a balance of £500 of debt from my current account to this card, on furthur reading it tells me that…

BT or Repay Debt and Then SBT with new Card
Hi Sorry if there is another thread which answers this question. I couldn't find one. I've currently got £10K at 0% with Mint which expires in the middle of November. All of the funds are sitting with Intelligent Finance. Using Martin's advice I intend to apply for a new card at the beginning of October. I only have one…

Credit card security
I've just had a call from Capital One informing me of some fraudulent activity on my card. Apparently someone phoned them up, passed all the security questions and managed to have the address changed on my account, some time earlier this month. My card was due to expire at the end of the month, and the replacement has not…

Barclaycard 0% offer
I was pleased when my application for the platinum Barclaycard on 12 months at 0 % on BT's was accepted-until i saw the measly credit limit-a laughable 1.6k ! I'd got a 5.5k limit on one of my ordinary cards. Fortunately, my personal finances have improved since but anybody applying for the card should bear this in mind.…

MBNA Residual Interest Scam
For those of you with 0% MBNA cards, watch out when you come to clear the balance. Do not wait until the end of your interest free period. MBNA have a nasty little scam called “residual interest”. I got my last month’s interest free statement, showing my estimated interest if I did not clear your balance in full. I duly…

3.9% BTs from MS
I recently asked Morgan Stanley to change my PIN. They've sent me a new card, to use with the new PIN - just phoned to activate the card & they offered me 3.9% on BTs (to cards only) for 5 months. 0% would be better, but I wouldn't mind £5K in my off-set mortgage account, saving so paying 3.9 rather than 5.6% for 5…

Halifax £50 cashback
Is anyone STILL having problems getting their £50 from Halifax? LAst August/September Halifax Platinum card ran a promotion giving customers £50 cashback for 3 transactions completed within the first month. There was no limit on the size of the transaction i.e: it could be as small as a packet of chewing gum etc. I still…

Any 0% deal with no cash handling charges?
I'm just coming to the end of my mint card 0% free period and have about £3000 that I want to carry on not paying interest on. But every card that is recommended eg MBNA,Virgin etc seem to charge 2% or a max of £35 for a balance transfer. Is there any card (I don't do any spending on it) that will give me 0% interest and…

Capital One Credit Card Cheques
Capital One have just sent my husband some "convenient" credit card cheques, to be used at the cash interest rate of 20.5% plus a fee!! Do they think we are entirely stupid. The account is currently clear, and we intend to keep it that way except for bouncing BT's between accounts. Have scrawled across them "at those…

How long doe it take
I wondered whether anyone could tell me how long applying for a Credit Card usually takes, I am specifically looking at the Sainsburys card. I need to transfer a loan in December, but don't want to apply too early and therefore make as much use as possible of the 12 Mth 0% Interest Free loan.

SBTs for Low Earners
Recently got a copy of my credit report for free. Although I have little income, my status is quite good except that I have had no seaches on my file for more than a year and I spend little using my credit card - using my debit card most of the time. Can anyone suggest any other ways that I may improve my credit status so…

MBNA £25 late payment fee... GRRRR !
Took advantage of their 0% APR on a £11,000 balance transfer and immediately after arranging this over the phone, set up a minimum direct debit through their website as advised. Paid £40 off my first new "big balance" statement as I knew the DD wouldn't be set up in time. Get my new statement saying I've been charged a £25…

Sainsbury Card
Used my Sainsbury Card in Tescos yesterday. On the Tesco bill there's a paragraph saying they have added a 2.5% handling charge to the cost of the items. Did a quick addition but it all added up correctly. Anyone know if there is a 2.5% handling charge in Tescos when a Sainsbury card is being used there.

CIFAS on my Equifax report!!
I have just received my Equifax report this morning. My credit card is listed, my current account and 2 mail order catalogues. That's fine. On the last page there are 2 CIFAS listings for a person who does not live at my address!! Apparently the searches are for credit cards. Will this affect my credit rating? How can I…
