How long to wait after settling card?
I am about to settle my Egg card but will leave it open to make use of the anniversary offer and SBT facilities. I plan to apply for the Lloyds TSB 12 month 0% but am wondering how long to leave it before it will show on my credit record. I have a few other 0% deals also at the moment so don't want to push things too hard

Help-SBT query!
I've been trawling around the site for ages trying to find out if First Direct do SBTs. Their T&Cs say "balance transfer is a transfer of funds from your account with us directly to another specified account held by you with another card company". There's no mention of "paying off" overdrafts or interest free credit card…

AMEX DROPPING CASHBACK RATES
Just been tipped off Amex is dropping cashback rates on Blue and Platinum cards. No need to worry as it isn't happening just yet (Oct), I've had a scan on the new rates and they're not disasterous, still topping the table for most things. I will update my article in the next few days (when i've finished balance transfers)…

I had a very bad weekend (it involved a car salesman trying to make us over commit - we walked away) and I came home with a headache and in an extremly bad mood. After 3 hours of my blood boiling I decided enough was enough. I was sick of being in debt and paying out £100+ a month in repayments to my credit card ....so I…

Credit Card Security Hint
Note for the Great Shredder Hunt click here QUICK HINT FOR BAR GOERS, EATERS AND CLUBBERS: Nope, sorry, not cheap booze, just a security note. Pay by credit card & annoyingly many pubs/clubs receipts print the full credit card number. It’s ridiculous frankly. Leaving these receipts hanging around makes fraud easier. Always…

Card Protection Policy renewal – are they worth it
I’m starting to think if this policy is worth it. I have never ever used it and it has been increasing each and every year currently £16 per year with Barclaycard, covers the whole family though. Does anyone know of any cheaper policy’s out there? Are they really worth it? The T&C’s probably wouldn’t cover any normal event…

I have been trying since 7 Jul to get A&L credit card to recredit my account for a foreign currency transactions that did not belong to me! Hi I've used a few 0% credit card deals over the past year. Some I've paid off so although the card is still valid there is no balance. I'm not sure what I've got myself into here and perhaps you more experienced SBTer's can help me. And they only…

Urgent: Credit/Debit Card Purchase Insurance
:-/ I must begin by sayin what a fantastic resource this is! I'm glad i've finally made the effort to register. Right the question is regarding some credit card and debit cards which offer *free* purchase protection on "most" goods bought on them over £50. How the heck can they afford to do this when for example Dixons…

2nd Barclaycard
I currently have a Barclaycard Visa with quite a high (unused) limit. I requested (via my account) an accompanying Barclaycard Mastercard, as I thought it would be useful to have a Mastercard as well as a Visa. BC wrote to me offering the MC, but it would not be with a separate credit limit. Instead, I would need to…
