Random money transferred to my bank account
Hi, I wasn't too sure which section to post this in, but here it goes anyway..... I recently noticed a figure of around £2,000 put into my account that I wasn't expecting and certainly don't recognise where it's from (it's a random reference number). Now I've checked that this was not any wages or any other debt someone…

7 Day Switching
Is it best to wait until most of your monthly DDs have been processed before hitting the switch button, or should the system pick them all up anyway?

At what point do direct debits become active?
I'm switching to m&s which requires 2 active direct debits. I've just set up 2 for charities and the are showing on online banking but first payments won't go out until next week. Will these be deemed active or should I wait until first payments have gone out?

We do not want/need to use the money in the short-term (therefore inclined to go for the latter). Please share your opinion. thank you

Neither accounts have overdrafts on them but they both have contactless technology. I used…

Asked to confirm tax residency by my bank
I'm confused! I've received a letter from FirstDirect asking me to complete a "common reporting standards tax residency self-certification"form. I've always lived in the UK and don't have any accounts outside the UK! I have rung them and they were a bit vague. They said the form was going to all customers - not just me. Is…

Banks that offer 'Savings Jars'?
Hi Just wondering if you might have any recommendations for a new bank account? Barclays cheque clearance times
I've been a customer of Barclays for many years and used their online banking since it was introduced. Over time I've paid in many cheques, and as per mailing received from the bank years ago have been able to draw on them instantly, so long as I was happy they'd clear with no problems (ie from my Mum). They've always…

I switched my Natwest account over to Halifax recently using the switching service. My natwest account is now closed. The only card linked to my Apple Pay is the debit card for my…

How much to save
It's a while since I've been here but a lot has happened and now I need some more advice. We've taken the big step of releasing equity from the house via a lifetime mortgage (we had lots of excellent advice and talked to our kids about it and they've fully supported us). As a result we've been able to pay off our loan and…

Cashing a large US Dollar cheque in UK
I've received a life insurance payout from the US. A one-off cheque. My bank indicates it will take 6-8 weeks for it to travel back around the US before I get paid - assuming it doesn't get lost during this time. There must be a better way!?

HSBC Closed account!
First off, apologies. I know as I type this I am going to have to rant. My (now) wife opened a HSBC account some 10 years ago. In September of 2015 it then became a joint account with myself as a precursor to getting a mortgage with them. Yesterday I tried to put some cash IN to this account and the card was withheld.…

Cooperative Bank are refusing to pay me my 100 pounds switch incentive. Has anyone else had any problems?
