Hi All,
Hoping for some advice please, I've had a look at similar threads but couldn't find the info needed.
I've opened 2 new bank accounts recently, one being the Barclays Bank Account and the other is a Clydesdale Plus account.
Neither accounts have overdrafts on them but they both have contactless technology.
I used the Barclays card yesterday at Sainsbury's pay pump with only £2.00 in the account, authorised it and I filled up the tank, transferred the sum spent over when I got home to avoid me going overdrawn.
As Barclays allowed me to do this is it an offline full authorisation card?
Barclays contactless 4658 58 etc
My new card with Clydesdale bank hasn't been used yet but is the following:
Clydesdale contactless 5573 51 etc
Is this an offline full authorisation card?
Many thanks for you help in advance!

Neither is conclusive as Pay@pump only authorise £1 plus both Barclays & Clydesdale issue online contactless cards. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Depends on how the retailer processes contactless payments.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
How would retailer have anything to do with the card being off or online? It's the card issuer that determines the card type.dr_adidas01 wrote: »Depends on how the retailer processes contactless payments. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. All Barclays Debit Cards beginning 4658 are online (4659 cards are offline).
I have a Yorkshire Bank (same group as Clydesdale) Contactless Debit MasterCard that begins 5573 49 and it is online, I'm not sure what number indicates offline.0 -
Many thanks for your replies.
Just an update : I used the Barclays debit card 4658 58 on a train yesterday which worked offline!0 -
