Switching service - Apple Pay?

I switched my Natwest account over to Halifax recently using the switching service. My natwest account is now closed. Recently I used the London Underground and realised I didn't have an Oyster or any contactless cards on me. My only option was to use Apple Pay. The only card linked to my Apple Pay is the debit card for my (closed) Natwest account.
Magically the Apple Pay still worked and let me through the barrier. What's going to happen now? That account is closed, will the payment come from my new account? Will I get some sort of charge from natwest?

Before it spirals out of control and damages your credit file call NWest and report/sort it.
The card payment did not check online, but you are now due NWest that money.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Have you registered the card with TFL?
I suggest you do so, which will allow you to pay it off.
I had a dead card registered with Apple Pay and TFL, when i used it, they emailed me saying a payment could not be processed, please send us payment.
Your debt is with TFL, not your bank.0 -
As you used the switching service transactions against your NatWest account will be forwarded to your Halifax account for (I believe) 3 years.0

Turns out the transaction did actually get declined (even though I was allowed in and out of the barriers). I had an email from TfL asking me to log in to the contactless site and get the card reauthorised. As the card is no longer valid though there's no way for me to do this, so I called TfL Customer Services and they told me to just ignore the whole thing. I had a free journey basically.
I think the thing about payments being redirected to your new account only applies to BACS/CHAPS/Faster Payment type transactions into the account, not debit card payments out.0
