Are 'free' current accounts a thing of the past?
On Thursday the Competition & Markets Authority will be publishing a report into current accounts that is expected to announce a number of measures to increase competitive in the sector. One of the measures that may be announced is a 'flat fee' for all current accounts. While current accounts with fees attached have high…

Multiple reward current accounts
I'm currently with First Direct and I find their customer service and online banking second to none, so easy to deal with. Unfortunately bar the 6% regular saver (which isn't easy access) there are no real financial incentives for me with the current account. I was thinking of opening a Halifax Reward current account for…

Switching an ISA to a current account
Hiya :) Our current Barlcyas ISA is only giving us around 1.5% at the moment. I've noticed the tsb "classic plus" giving 5% which also gives the £125 bonus via MSE. I'm just wondering if its possible to use the switching service to transfer our ISA over to this (second) current account? Or is it just for current to current.

Best over the counter book account...
So after a solid year of debt repaying - including 2k overdraft, 1k credit card and a few other debts, I am now in a position to save some money... however, I want to be able to access it when I like, just not via a debit card (I have a spending personality, when I have cash on my card, I spend it...) Does anyone have any…

Timescale for set up of Tesco Savings Direct Debits
I'm looking to do a switch under the CASS that completes on last business day of October for Nationwide's Reccomend A Friend offer which requires two direct debits. Setting these up on Tesco gives 29th October as earliest possible date for first payment which would thus be within the switching window which I'd rather avoid…

business account question
I'm a part time writer. I write articles for magazines (usually 1 or 2 per month) and I also write short stories that are usually published in anthologies. The latter is less frequent than the articles. I also have a day job at a bank. My question is, as I'm being paid for the writing, is it okay to keep using my personal…

Is it better to apply for joint a/c first and 2 x sole later?
That's a general question about current accounts. A more specific one is about Club Lloyds, where I want to open a joint one with my mother plus two soles, without having to take her to a branch. If I opened a joint one first online, would I then be able to open a sole one for her or would their system reject it?

Switching joint account
I'm switching my current joint account to Halifax to get the £125. Did it online couple of days ago, Halifax seem to have a daft system where you have to create a single account first then convert it to joint account afterwards. They saying it can take 5 days to convert but the switch offer ends tomorrow 18th! They say I…

Anyone use Nationwide online banking?
Hi, have just this month switched to Nationwide. When looking at transactions on online banking, is there a way to set it so the most recent transactions are at the top of list ,rather than having to scroll all way down the page? Thanks so much :)
