Lloyds Bank International Payment
Hi everyone, I am just wondering what is the difference between the passcode required during lloyds bank international payment and password required during llyods bank normal payment for example rental at UK? The bank account is just classic vantage account and not business account. Besides, my debit card already expired…

Clydesdale Bank and the Post Office
It just gets better! I recently switched to the Clydesdale - although I live in England the Post Office website says you can pay in cash and cheques and withdraw cash at PO counters. The same does not apply to the Yorkshire, although it is ostensibly the same bank. Yesterday I stopped off at a small village PO to pay £150…

Nationwide payment references
A nice simple question, or so I thought. I've been round the houses with Nationwide and gotten nowhere. Is the anyway to view payment references using the online banking system? Not the payee name but the reference sent with the payment. I have been told you can by Nationwide and now told that I cannot. For clarification…

Bank charges from benefit payments
Hi, I found info on a thread from 2006 saying that the S S admin act means that banks cannot take charges from your account if the only source of income is benefits i.e JSA/ Income Support etc. It said that this may not be up to date due to the time of posting- so I looked on the Gov site to check any amendments to the…

Correct IBAN, wrong name
Just need a bit of help on this. I'm expecting some money (about £4,000) to come from Slovenia (it's a bitcoin withdrawal) to be deposited into my barclays uk account, the only problem is the IBAN/SWIFT is correct, but I left my brother's (who has the same last name) name in the Beneficiary's Name field, and I'm worried…

Do First Direct ever reply to secure messages?
I've opened a First Direct current account for the switching bonus and access to the regular saver. I started the "full switch" over the phone when I set up my details. We agreed a switching date, I got all the paperwork, but then nothing has happened. No switch. I sent them secure messages asking about it on 27 November…

Account upgrade credit check?
I'm planning on opening a few new bank accounts and getting a credit card or two to get as much cash-back and interest as possible. I know I need to spread this out so there are not too many searches on my credit file all at once. My question is would upgrading an existing Nationwide FlexAccount to FlexDirect (for the 5%…

v.me by VISA
I have just received an email from Nationwide BS announcing that it is the first UK financial institution to offer a digital wallet for debit and credit cards called v.me by VISA. http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/managing_your_account/the-nationwide-digital-wallet.htm https://uk.v.me/ Neither Nationwide's nor…

How often do Halifax review overdrafts?
I have only last week increased my overdraft to £3000 from £100, I was extremely surprised that it was accept due to poor credit score from past debts. However I am worried to even use it, just incase they randomly take it off me. How often do they actually review the overdraft? I will more than likely go into it by about…

How do you track your spending?
Sorry if this is a very basic question but I'm looking for ideas about how to best track my spending - on a daily basis especially; how to (and how often to) transfer to weekly or monthly accounts; how best to keep hold of receipts; how to keep track of budgets. I've tried various methods but I'm SO disorganised that any…

If you cancel a direct debit, can they still request money?
Hi, we have just swapped our insurance company and hubby wants to just cancel the direct debit, but I think it's best to call them and tell them so they do not try and take it out at the start of the new policy year. It does state on renewal that if they do not hear from us then they will take monthly payment. Thanks

Tesco direct debit finishing
Just had a letter from Tesco Bank saying that I wouldn't be able to fund my savings account by direct debit as from 15th February. I was using it to make up the direct debits needed for the Halifax reward account. Back to the drawing board then!

Closing 'old' redundant bank account
I have an old Barclays Bank Account (17 years old) that I no longer use, it has no overdraft, but appears as £0 on my credit file, rather than nothing being shown. I now have 4 other bank accounts (First Direct, Nationwide, Lloyds, TSB) which have been open for a maximum of 14 months. Am I better off leaving the Barclays…

Hello Im new and never posted before but at mo myself and DH are at our wits end. We have a personal joint account with Lloyds and DH has a business account which he has had for about 5-6 years. re-opening smile account. Maybe?
I have transferred happily to halifax and all is smooth, all the direct debits and incomings are flowing correctly. How do you read the back of a cheque?
I'm trying to find out what bank account some cheques I wrote were paid in to. So I went to my bank and had them send me copies of the cheques. On the back there are stamps/markings including what appear to be account numbers. Problem is, every one seems to have a different account number on it. I can't find an image of…

a clever way to beat monthly payments
If a bank requires one to make regular monthly payments in order to get a higher than usual interest ie Nationwide's 5% on up to £2500, this money does not have to come from income. Open an account in another bank and arrange a Standing Order for the required monthly amount to Nationwide. At the same time get Nationwide to…

Drip Feeding for regular savings
Have I found an error in the calculations re interest in normal account used for drip-feeding? The higher interest in this account, the lower the total interest gained. The lower interest the more overall interest gained. I assumed using 4 building societies each offering around 3.05% and paying in £250 per month into each…
