Lloyds Bank International Payment

Hi everyone, I am just wondering what is the difference between the passcode required during lloyds bank international payment and password required during llyods bank normal payment for example rental at UK? The bank account is just classic vantage account and not business account. Besides, my debit card already expired and I do not apply for a new one and I also do not have the pin and card reader for the passcode. Therefore, I am wondering will the passcode required during the international payment same as the password required during the normal payment in this situation as my account is just the normal classic vantage account and not the business account and I do not request for the pin and card reader for the passcode? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure you are talking about Lloyds? Seems strange you mention card readers and PINs for online payments.

It is also strange that your debit card should have expired and you haven't automatically received a new one. You do not have to apply for a replacement. Are you sure you have not received a replacement card? May be to a previous address?

Perhaps best if you got into a Lloyds Branch and ask them how you can do what you intend to do.
  • You need a reader if you have a business account.

You don't need one for a personal account.

The normal payment for the classic vantage account does not require the card reader and pin for online payment. However, when I am trying to see how the international payment looks like before proceeding it at the best exchange rate, it ask for a password just like the normal payment but when I click on the question mark beside the password, it says 8 digit code generated by your card reader. I am a international student therefore already back to my home country for 1month already and the debit card was cancelled and was not replaced.

Ya, I am aware of that too. However, during the international payment when it ask for the password before processing the payment, it says the 8 digit passcode generated by your card reader when you click the question mark beside the password. Therefore, I wanna double confirm that in this situation where I only got classic vantage account, I just need to put in my normal log in password will do right? I Could not try it now due to I am still waiting for the best exchange rate and want to make sure that the normal log in password will work for me even it says 8 digit passcode in the question mark beside password when you click it. Thank you.

Apart from that, I am just wondering will I get a better exchange rate if I do it at the branch instead of online? Thank you.

You could be more helpful than replying some more useful information. If I can ask lloyds, why should I be wondering around this forum anymore? I already said I am not at UK currently right now therefore I really need some insights and helps from this forum. I thought that was the purpose of this forum? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Exactly...................
  • The rates are published on their website and is the same in branch as online - the only difference is that online charge costs half what it does in branch.

I see. Thanks for the information. Last question (just to double confirm), my normal login password will work for the personal account international payment also right when requested to proceed the payment even though the hint(question mark icon) beside the password during the international payment for personal account said 8 digit passcode as I did not request for the pin and card reader function at first. Thank you.
