Warning - benefitanswers.co.uk
I work with vulnerable people, and received this round robin email today. Extract follows. The company visited, completed DLA, Inc. benefit and carers allowance forms on behalf of the client. The company work on…

How is Council Tax Benefit Calculated?
I've been through various battles with my astonishingly incompetent council's benefit office. My benefit's recently gone down quite a bit, I've requested an explanation of exactly how they came by the figure, but they've yet to reply. It's easy enough to determine, for example, income tax liability or incapacity benefit…

Need advice for brother who is homeless and penniless.
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes. The situation is that my 60 brother has returned to England having spent the last couple of years living like a hippy in Africa. Came back penniless, had to borrow the airfare home. Should point out that he was self employed before he went but the business went…

NI contributions/State Pension
I took voluntary redundancy in August aged 54. Initially I did not take my company pension and claimed jobseekers allowance. I decided to take my pension and, as this was more than js, I get no benefits. Jobcentre told me I should still sign on to get my NI paid. Pension office told me that from April 2010 you only need 30…

tax credits suspended payments
My sister has had her child tax credits suspended. An anon call was made to tax credits saying she was claiming fraudulently as she didn't have children. Which is nonsense. Her ex left in may and she has been raising my 2 nephews alone since then as her ex isn't helping at all. We suspect it was one of the ex's crowd that…

Do I qualify for maternity allowance?
Hello Does anyone have any experience of claiming maternity allowance? According to the basic criteria, I qualify for MA and my employer has already given me the form to say that I don't qualify for SMP as my earnings are not high enough, so it seems fairly straightforwrd.
