    hah !
when it comes to planning & logistics, its all me, not the missis! :D

I booked us at the gazebo wedding at the Shalimar (just north of Stratosphere) (ironically, the chapel part is kinda part of the HoJo !!)

We didn't want a fancy wedding at home, we only wanted the evening party!
And figured pointless spending loads on a wedding in vegas, so we aimed to hit vegas ourselves.... (June 2011), but then my mum and her mate came, then my dad, then some friends.....

    Just found my original costs:
    $325 for wedding inc tax
    $35 tip for limo guy
    $70 for wedding guy (registrar)
$60 license fee (which I did online so was in the license place for 1 min!)

Evening bash back in Cardiff was better! ;);) lots of drinks, had 3 fun casino tables in the place, etc etc....
To anyone thinking of getting married, mainly guys, DONT DO IT!!! :D:D:D

I Looked at the Shalimar (Mind you I've looked at a lot of them) it seemed pretty good.
Basically your total cost including flowers, limo and tip cost less than our local admittedly historic registry office charges for a basic wedding ceremony alone. It's nuts

We got married at Little Church of the West. Just south of Mandala Bay, and I would recommend them. We also booked (iirc) Tod from Bentley Wilson to take pictures, and the pictures we got were absolutely fantastic.

All those places look lovely, thanks for all the suggestions. They're all noted :) Kind of unconvinced that you didn't wee yourself outside the limo though, Stuie. Your face is telling us a totally different story!

Agree with you on the cost, Duchy. Would cost us £250 just for the notice/registrar to get married in OH's home city. Then with all our family coming we'd wind up in that trap of spending just to please people, not to mention what a long drawn out day it would be! For Vegas we're looking around £200. We'll just be after a basic package, plus tips and fees. Enough to snap a few photos, wave to our families via a webcam and be back on the strip before you can say "where's Elvis, though?"

Got to admit I kind of like some of the hotel chapels placements. From what I remember the door to the one in Excalibur is right off the food court, where else could I get a Pizza Hut 5 steps from a "chapel" door? smiley-with-us-flag.gif

Mmmm so long as someone doesn't drop pizza on your dress on the way to the wedding ;) The proximity to the food court what what put me off the Excalibur especially as it's one of the more child friendly hotels so always heaving with kids with sticky fingers :D

I want photos with a bit of green and flowers in the background so that's why we settled on the Tuscany- plus their suites are big enough to spread out whilst getting ready .

I did sort of like the idea of the Elvis picks you up in an open top car and drives you to the ceremony- but it'd play havoc with hair and make up LOL

(I agree with you Cinny about the Stuie photo though :D)

Our vegas wedding dream was to do it all drive through. Stopping off at a drive through ATM to start with, then the legal bit and then off to in and out drive through styliee. We went a few years ago before we had got enaged but before leaving convinced hubby's mum that we would get married out there. She was so convinced she told everyone she knew, including the chiropodist who I know to say hello to at slimming world.
But in the end we went for a tiny church wedding with 19 people and came in at less than £1k for everything plus kept the parents happy. We would still have preferred something in Vegas though^^

We are also looking to get married in Vegas (September) and I've been checking the various posts on here for inspiration.

My main concern is that as it will be just the two of us at the wedding we don't want anywhere that is too large otherwise we could be hearing our own voices echoing around the place!

We don't want an Elvis style wedding (despite me being in my 60's) but would like to wear something a bit out of the ordinary and would probably take our own outfits with us, so any advice on smaller locations would be greatly appreciated.

I've bookmarked the Las Vegas Advisor wedding locations wedding guide from links already provided from some of your recent posts (many thanks for that) which is a good start but comments that some entrances are by food courts or by grotty areas are a bit worrying.

Nice photos from Stuie have convinced me it's the way to get married though.

    Thanks in advance.
