STOP PRESS. 6pm. 28 Jan. DEAL CLOSED (note from Martin)

Despite giving permission to publicise this deal yesterday Sky has told us it got it wrong and it shouldn't have allowed the code to be public or work.

After discussions it has agreed to honour the deal for everyone who clicked it before 1.30pm today (28 January).... which is the time we changed this post to say "deal has expired". There are reports that some are still getting the deal by phoning up and askign for it via the call centre (do report how you get on)

Sky has sent the following apology..
.

“Yesterday Money Saving Expert contacted Sky’s press office to verify details of an offer that a Money Saving Expert subscriber had posted on an online forum – so that it could be included in Money Saving Expert’s weekly email that you may have received today.

Unfortunately, and we regret this sincerely, we did not make it clear that unique reference number applied only to the addressee and was not available for general use. We want to make it clear this was not in any way an error on the part of Money Saving Expert.

We intend to honour all of the orders that we have received via www.sky.com/myoffer using this unique reference number”

As part of this we're also discussing some form of deal that will be available to MoneySavers who didnt get this offer, and details will be in the weekly email next week.

The note below stays as a matter of record, though we have taken links and the code out to avoid any confusion.

27 January 09
What's the deal?

Using a special code you can currently get a free Sky+ box, usually £99, ON TOP of Sky's current normal promotion, providing you sign up to a 12 month contract. Plus sign up via a cashback website and you can get £50 cashback as well. The code is totally legit, we've spoken to Sky and it knows we're including it. The cheapest available package is the £16.50/month basic deal.

What is Sky+

It's a hard-drive recorder which means you can live pause and rewind live programmes, and record things without tape. It's been called Sky's "killer application" and is rated by the Which? as the top box of its type.

What you get in detail
  • Free Sky+ box (worth £99) or pay more to get Sky+ HD £49 (it's usually £99 plus £30 installation).
  • Free installation (worth £30)
  • Free 2Mb broadband
  • Free weekend calls
  • Free choice of entertainment pack
  • £15 credit off your first bill
The calls and broadband are optional but are included, though wil require you to pay for BT line rental (£11/mth) as well.

How to get the deal

1. Go to LINK DELETED
2. In the right hand corner enter the code CODE DELETED
3. Pick the package you want and check out

The offer's available until 12 Feb.

Get cashback on top

Cashback sites are websites that list retailers/product providers and get paid if you click through them. Importantly, they then give some or all of this cash to you.

If you're new to this concept, please read the Best Cashback Sites guide before continuing, as while there shouldn't be a problem with these deals, the payout on cashback sites is never guaranteed; if there's a dispute with the retailer and the cashback site doesn't get paid, you don't either.

Currently its possible to get £50 cashback (or £75 if you opt for SkyHD+) from Topcashback*, Quidco* or Cashbackkings*

UPDATE 28 Jan

Sky has now stopped those from using a code from getting cashback. However those that had cashback tracked before yesterday will be paid the cashback.

Already a Sky customer?

While this is only for new customers it's often possible to slash the cost of your Sky package if you're out of contract simply by calling up and asking for a better deal.

Read the Sky Haggling discussion to see what others have been offered.

£75 quidco is only for the HD version which will cost you £49 and £9.75/month for the compsulsory HD pack - so really it's £50 quidco for the non-HD version.

The broadband is limited to a measly 2gb a month

I'm sure that code must be for an individual... where did it come from, does it say on HUKD? Please note you're not allowed to post codes on Grabbit anyway.

It is a great deal, you dont have to have the broadband anyway. And if you want HD its only £49 which has to be a bargain!
Not sure about the line rental, I thought everyone was open to that regardless.

Where did you get the HD for £49?
I rang sky yesterday and asked them about upgrading to HD and they told me it was £99 for the box, £60 for install and then the extra bit on top for HD sub!

What gives?
God I really hate sky right now.

I got sky talk which I pay £5 for (free calls 24/7 for the kids)
Unlimited net for £10 (again kid's with online gaming)
Line rental £10 (BT charge you too much if you don't actually use their services - something like £7 a month extra)
And at the mo one package at a bargain deal of £7 for 3 months, cos I wanted to cancel the whole lot.

When I put the code in and then it updated the prices and my basket. It said HD was £49 with free install, if you subscribe to HD.

We had a local company sent out by Sky today to fit Sky+ and multiroom but they have had to rebook because they were not insured to go up on the roof where our dish is, their ladders were not long enough and had no insurance.

They phoned Sky and I spoke to them - I had told them I had explained on booking our dish was high up and would need ladders/2 staff:rolleyes: they have accepted Its their fault and re booked for next Sunday.

Not happy as Im only free weekends so cancelled plans today to be in and got to do the same now next Sun. Have asked for 8-1 again but told the 'high ladders' team are 8-5

Poor guys today say they wont be paid by Sky!!!

thanks a lot!
What a great offer even though i didn't need broadband and phone. Just TV!
I'm not sure about the M&S vouchers though, because when I entered the code the offers applied to my account changed from £15 off and £50 M&S vouchers to £15 off first bill and free Sky + box / installation.
For me it's even better since i dont really shop at M&S. Now for ordering Sky+ I'll get £50 cashback and if I'd ordered standard sky box I wouldn't get any cashback at all. I would only get M&S vouchers.
Thanks again!

Default re BT line rental only

Quote: "Line rental £10 (BT charge you too much if you don't actually use their services - something like £7 a month extra)"

We are with Sky on a similar package to yours, but we stayed with BT for line rental "just in case". It's £10.50 per month (charged quarterly) As long as we have 2 calls per calendar month through BT - which we do by dialling 1280 as a prefix - we get our CallMinder, Ringback and 1471 / 1571 services for free. I'm not sure what they would cost if we didn't - £7 a month would certainly be quite a lot.

The 2 calls can be a short as you like as long as you remember to do them. (I have written 1280 on the 1st of the month in my diary to remind me)
...hope it goes on working as kids will now kill me if I cancel Sky. (also I've become addicted to Mock the Week repeats.......)

I have just got off the phone from Sky, I mentioned to them about the £50 cashback from quidco and the promo that Nikkit72 stated and managed to get the following deal direct from the Sky callcentre:

Free Sky+box and installation
£15 credit on my account
25% off 6 mixes for 12mths (Which brings it down to £16.13 per month)

They did also state that I could have the Sky Sports package and the 6 mixes for £29.63 a month.

We live in quite a rural area so we are not able to receive the cheap broadband deals they stated as our telephone exchange is yet to be made digital.

Hope that helps!
