Hi girls, thanks for the welcome!

I've been keeping well so far, 25 weeks in and due on 16th June. Not finding out the sex, waiting for a surprise.

I've had a bit of pelvic pain the past week or so (physio I spoke to reckoned pelvic girdle pain/spd) I've to go to the hospital to a group run by the maternity physio next week and they have told me that if you follow their advice, the pain should be manageable. I'll let you all know if there are any magic tips from the physio!

Buttock pain and back/ pelvic pain not as bad today, I made a conscious effort to get up from my desk more plus I had a slightly shorter day at work which I think helped.

Always alone- why is it that you didn't think you would go this long preg wise? Great that you have nearly made it to the safe 37 weeks.

Pillow wise I have just one between my legs at the moment but I should find my pillows put as last time around I had one at the front and back as well. What a nightmare trying to fit in a double bed with that lot.

I also have a spare duvet folded up under the sheet on my side of the bed - gives a bit of extra padding for my hips. I am now using crutches around the house and we have a wheelchair for longer distances outside! And I don't even mind! I thought I would but the relief of not having to walk takes precedence! That and lots of other horrible symptoms are getting me down though. I'm hoping that baby comes early (not too early obviously!) but some days I just end up in tears.

I had my follow-up with the specialist mental health midwife yesterday. I had written her a letter explaining that I was disappointed with certain aspects of my first apt with her and she had actually phoned and we cleared the air before meeting. My OH came with me for support!!!
Anyway, it was ok... But, the thing that left me completely gobsmacked was when she said "I'm just a midwife, I haven't had any kind of specialist training in mental health issues or anything" WHAT?!???!
Still can't believe it! I'm going to mention it to my "normal" midwife when I see her next Monday.

Otherwise I am trying to keep busy - although I can't really do much around the house which is so frustrating! OH is being lovely though!

It looks like my mum won't be able to come and stay when OH goes back to work unfortunately (well, depending on when baby arrives).

sorry - that's turned into a bit of an epic!!!

Ladies with PGP/SPD or who just can't turn over in bed anymore....probably all of us then! I went to a physic class run in my local hospital for SPD and they gave me a slidey sheet for bed, genius as it makes turning in bed easy but was a rather noisy, paper model. I took the idea and made one out of satin material, it's basically a tube of fabric you sleep on & so when you turn the material slides over the bottom layer making turning and moving in bed easy. I made one for my pregnant friend who is also suffering from SPD and she loves it, so it's not just me.

I was thinking about making some to but on ebay as I couldn't find anything nice for less than £30 when I first learnt of them and how it may help me sleep. Do you think it's something people would be interested in?

As for me, sleep is becoming worse, when I lie down my back hurts and my bump needs propping up, as soon as I've wedged pillows in the right places I need to get up to go to the loo! Im now really glad I finished work when I did, couldn't imagine having to go to work ager just a few hours sleep every night! I'm hoping my back will settle down so I can get a better nights sleep soon!

Princess kate, I'm an occupational therapist and work with people with physical disabilities, turning over in bed is a huge issue for lots of people (thankfully for us it should only be temporary!!) It sounds like they have given you a slide sheet, and there are already lots on the market, although not in nice luxury fabrics like satin :)

The problem with totally satin bed sheets is that you can slide right out! So just a square of the material underneath you is better, as you still have the normal edge of the sheet! Glad it helps you, I'm hoping they give me some good advice next week too!

Yes I was after a nice one, not a plastic one which was all I could find to use rather than the noisy paper one they gave me. The one I made is about 1m square so I just lie on it, no risk of me sliding out of bed!

Last pregnancy I had a loose satin shiny nighty that was brilliant for turning over in!!

Always alone- why is it that you didn't think you would go this long preg wise? Great that you have nearly made it to the safe 37 weeks.

Jedi, my DS was born at 35 weeks and this one is measuring small so hospital thought this one would go the same way, whether he arrived unexpectedly again or had to be induced due to size. It's the reason for my frequent scans and steroids at 31 weeks to give baby best possible chance. S0ds law, this stubborn monkey will go over tho and keep me waiting!!

Princess K that sounds like a fab idea! Would also help with the mess if waters break in bed :rotfl: whilst I've been struggling, I've not actually got anything and don't think I'll bother at this stage but would have defo invested a few weeks ago.

Oh Aunty P you're not having much luck with your health 'professionals' really hope you can find someone soon who actually helps and empathises. Big hugs for your mum not being able to visit, how is she doing? Glad you're getting around a bit easier now, hopefully being able to be out and about without as much pain is a much needed bonus at the mo

Hi all, I seem to be a bit rubbish at keeping up lately, I had 3 pages to read through!

I've been lucky and haven't really suffered any problems sleeping, although DH would argue that I fidget and roll over a lot! When I'm awake I agree that turning over is a real effort, but when I'm asleep I'm fully asleep so I'm fine, it's just poor DH who suffers as he is a light sleeper :p I did buy myself a V pillow and wedge in the Argos sale for around £10 and slept with it for the first time last night and DH commented this morning that for the first time in ages I've not gone over on to his side! So it did the job in keeping me still and DH got a better nights sleep.

I have been suffering with back ache recently. It used to just be in the evenings but now its on and off all day and still peaks evening/night time. I've been going to bed with a small hot water bottle which has helped, but it means I've had to sleep on my back so I'm getting the benefit from the heat! I've been fine on my back and I don't feel constricted or additional pressure at all, but then I have been trying to sleep propped up slightly to reduce that anyways and it seems to be working.

Aunty - can't believe that she is classed as a specialist but actually no different to your regular midwife! Hope all goes well when your see your regular one next week and that you get better care from now on.

weesmiler - welcome! Glad you are doing well so far, I can't vouch for the others but my third trimester seems to have gone soooooo fast! As soon as I stop work though I bet time will stand still so I'm enjoying keeping busy at the moment.

Bubblepops - All seems fine with the baby shower plans, I've not spoken to her recently so I'm assuming all is ok. I'm sure it will be fine when it actually comes round, I just need to have an open mind :p

Finally, as for kicking in awkward places I've been lucky as baby is still behaving and staying head down so I don't really feel anything down there except pressure, but I do keep getting kicks in the ribs or my right side. I've fully adopted the pregnancy waddle though :rotfl:

Sorry if I've missed anyone out but hope you are all well, will try to catch up sooner next time (she says for the umpteenth time :p:o)
