Have spent about £ 20 today together at Aldi and M's for mostly veg, also 8 tins of chopped tomatoes at £stretchers (25 p each - I know a bargain, lol).
About £ 4 I would not have spent if DD2 had not been with me but she needed a sandwich after school RIGHT AWAY and together we could not resist reduced Easter chocolates at Aldi...:A

    Hello everyone :)
Please can you put me down for £200 please. I'm starting slimming world and have a toddler, a just starting to be weaned baby and my Husband to feed so it's going to be hard I'm sure, but after following Weightwatchers and buying a lot of convenience foods I have a feeling if I plan very carefully this is do-able and will be much healthier! I really want to do this because its the only place I can find in our outgoings that we may be able to reduce, that and petrol! :) xx

    Hi all,
Counting the loaf of bread I bought yesterday as an April spend ;) I've done a meal plan for the next two weeks so will be doing a big shop later today. Going to try to cater more for DH's taste (ie make sure we have biscuits etc in) so he doesn't feel so tempted to buy extra treats and blow the budget :D

Hiya everyone and a warm welcome to all the returners and new peoples :hello:

Well I went over by £8.03 in March due to under-estimating replenishing things after our holidays so I'm going to put that down as first spend of this month and try to catch back up.

Need to check the freezers and store cupboard tomorrow, sit down and do a meal plan for the next week and a half at least, and then write a shopping list.

Now that we're in April I need to check what new veggies should be coming into season and hopefully get something to make a change. I know asparagus starts in April so that will be one of our treats this month ;)

Good luck with the challenge and hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

9- sausage, cheesy mash and beans
    10- tuna pasta bake
    11- toad in the hole
    12- 'roast' chicken
    13- soup
    14- braise and mash
    15- hm pizza
    16-/
    17-/

    19-/
    20- toasties

    23-/
24- out for dinner for my birthday on 23rd
    25- sausage casserole

    27- beans on toast/soup
28- some form of chicken dinner
    29- spaghetti and meatballs

This is an unusual month, in that the ch are away more, but gives me a chance to use up stocks. Also, I don't plan breakfasts and lunches, as it is always cereal/toast and pickups/leftovers.

You'll find Slimming World much easier to incorporate into family eating and you can use most recipes you already use with a few tweaks to make it SW friendly - things like using 1 cal spray rather than oil; making mash using a bit of stock (or fat free yoghurt) instead of butter & milk.

I find the biggest expense is fruit & veg but as long as you favour veg or fruit and keep to things in season it can be bought reasonably, particularly if you have a decent market.

    HTH.
