Why oh why did they think they would win this.

I do feel very sorry for these people but believe they have acted with blind stupidity

    Already covered and discussed here.

The staff thought they could win because private parking is an unregulated, unfair scam, and hoped a judge would agree.

I wonder what you would do if you were issued a permit and be one of 10,000 permits when there were only 1000 spaces available.
Would you not consider this as fraudulent ?

Imagine if British Airways oversold seats on 18 jumbo jets ???

Presumably they aren't expecting all staff to be in at once, with shifts and leave days and stuff. Probably not considering the change-overs though, so maybe 5:1 would be better than 10:1.

Even 5-1 is too high as I understand there is a charge for permits
What would you do if you paid for something and got nothing ?

Sad outcome for the individuals involved, but they took ill judged action without researching the matter.
It also strengthens the PC hand.
It is too late to turn back the clock, but hopefully other employees facing this situation will obtain informed advice before placing themselves in jeopardy.
What a shame that the staff reps and the Hospital Trust could not have reached a best available method of dealing with a space shortage.

Sad indeed and a NHS hospital to be wary about

I am certain that PPC's will jump on the bandwagon but they must
be very careful when relating to individual cases

The Elliot v Loake rubbish that mainly BWLegal used as a
threatening tool is rubbished in court

Therefore as is being suggested, with many of these letters
farmed out by the low life debt collectors, Trading Standards
    must be involved

This is not all over as a successful appeal could overturn the case
and hopefully this NHS trust will be open to claims for abuse
    and neglect of their staff

Maybe some of them was following the advice here that private parking companies issues parking charges was not enforceable. Seems that it is.
