Hi all
My name is Rebecca. I am 35 years old ( eeek on Thursday) with a six year old daughter.
Hopefully starting a diary will help me keep on track and look back on my spending. Last year I split with my daughter's Dad. He had a good wage but drank and gambled a lot of it. Anyway moving on I have less disposalble income but I feel better off if that makes sense?
I owe
Natwest cc 5600
Vanquis 600
Car 6500
After this debt I want to save for my own place. My daughter and I are fortunately staying with my parents allowing me to have 1k a month to throw at the debt . However this is not without its challenges.
I plan as others have done to try the £10 a day challenge.
Also started seeing a new guy . He is a bit more frugal than my ex who earnt three times my salary but it was gone in a week.
I can finally see a way forward. So I thought I would start this diary to help me on my way.

Thank you Pink Poppies.
I started the £10 a day Challenge yesterday.
It was my work mates son's christening. I decided not to drink and only spent £4 on drinks. It was a good day and a bit like a wedding. They had kids party games so it kept my daughter entertained.
The £4 came out off money I had in my purse. So technically I still have the £10 from yesterday. I will not count it as a NSD day though.
Just wondering if for example you fill your car up from the allotted petrol budget; but you don't touch the £10 does this count? Lol
How do others do it?0 -
Hi Rebecca Just popping by to wish you luck on your new adventures.
I'm also a Rebecca and you won't believe this ... but it is also my birthday this Thursday! I tend to lurk on the competitions forum entering competitions ... it is the thrill of receiving that unannounced prize or winning email!

Good luck Rebecca. It's so true that there is no point having a high salary if it's all gone in days. It's the % you can retain in savings each month of even a meagre salary that builds real wealth. Hope you can make the best of your time living with your family to get shipshape.
All the best

Ok well Epic fail.
My good intentions went astray.
I am finding it difficult living with my parents and as I had six weeks off in the summer I went mad going on holidays.
However I am back to reality with a cold hard thud.
The debt stands at
Natwest cc- £6000 @ 6 percent PA
Car -6300 @10 percent PA
I am so tempted to rent at the moment as it is hard living with my parents. I am not saying I am easy . I am sure I annoy them but if I can mamage another 10 months then I would be in a better situation. I am grateful I can stay with my parents its just intense at times.0 -

Thanks A simple life and Bob.
Well my first plan is to get rid of the 6k credit card debt.
My only outgoings are my car loan, mobile phones and life and car insurance.
So I can pay this off at 1k a month , more if I learn to be frugal.
That is of course unless I decide to rent. I know it would be a decesion I would regret long term. I would just love to have my own space. I can't even use the freezer as it is full of dinners my mam makes for my uncle. its not all bad though.0
