I've been keeping my receipts but haven't got around to putting it on here so my update is £132.08. Been quite good but started shopping twice a week which is not good! Sunday- fresh fruit and milk and essential. Then when I get to Wednesday getting bits for the end of the week. I need to try and stop this! Not doing too bad though! Loads of food in the house and hubby away this weekend so using stuff up from the freezer. Probably of shopping at the beginning of next week!
Made a huge chilli for tea. From the leftovers I froze three family meals and 3 kiddie sized portions!Grocery challenge-

Hiya everyone :hello:
Billie-jo - loved the picture, curry made me feel hungry again
FMF - all that batch baking  great when it's done though and saves so much time and money in the long run Can I just say don't forget the labels - think we've all done it :rotfl:K9sandFelines wrote: »Quick question. I have some melons and carrots that i cannot fit in the fridge. Would it be ok to store them in my cellar like they did in the olden days? Sure - I think it will be fine. I store stuff on the floor (coldest place) in the lobby and on the balcony especially C* time.Change4Life wrote: »Most of the Change4Life recipes cost around £5 to make (to feed four people), which is based on the average cost of ingredients used.
In cases where it is cheaper/necessary to buy certain items in bulk, remember that you can use these in multiple recipes. This is where it comes in handy to plan your meals for the week and do your shopping around this.

Thank you very much for your input and it is much appreciated.
However I think I would struggle on that as I am trying to manage on a household budget of £200 a month and £150 on just dinners would not be possible. As you can see I already run a bulk buy budget for such eventualities as buying meat and things when on offer that I use regularly. Think lots of people on here live on a lot less as well if you have a look through at the signatures.
Have you had a look at our recipes at the beginning of the thread ?? I am sure you'll be amazed at just what you can make for a few pennies.
Well Month 3 on my reduced budget and I am skating on thin ice now  Have just a smidgeon over £12 left for the next 7 days  Thank goodness for stuff in the freezers though think some of the meals might be a bit strange and I'll be scouring the YS for f & v next week (ok for weekend).
Hope you all have a super Saturday

Morning
After saying I wouldn't have another delivery this month things just started to run down a bit too much so I did!
So I now have £31.67 to last 7 days which comes out at £4.52 a day including today. I think I still have a chance.
I'm going to make a cheese and onion flan today which I have all the stuff for so I don't think I'll be shopping today. I'll rephrase that - I do not need anything today and will not be going to the shops! Probably...
Have a good weekend.August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Morning all, DH went shopping for me yesterday as I was too busy, there are pluses and minuses with DH shopping though +he sticks to the list -he insists on shopping at Sainsburys. I still don't have my receipt (or change) but it's close to the £10 mark for porridge oats, tin of soup, 2 packs of butter and coffee. I have £12 left in my purse until Fri but I have another pot for emergencies. This party has ended up costing more than I anticipated.Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

First shop of November for me £7.00 on fruit and veg in Aldi, got loads of lovely super 6 and enough salad for the week.
Was pondering on what to get in Iceland to get the festive bonus. I only need to get eggs and don't want to go over my budget, then it dawned on me I can get things for Christmas and that will come out of Christmas savings, so looking through the leaflet have decided to stock up on cans of pop for my DGS, coke is on buy one get one free at £3,
six can pack. So I will get 6 packs for £9 and eggs at £1, first shop sorted 2 more to go.Slimming World at target0 -

Hello! Having absented myself for a couple of months, I am finding my spending sneaking up a little. Only by £10 here and there, but that's money I can ill afford. I have everything I should need for the rest of this month, so I'll be reading here but will start afresh on Nov 1st.
Have lentil bolognese on the menu for tonight. Never had it before, but it's cheap, and I like to experiment when the children are at their dad's house. Incidentally, they're away until Tuesday bedtime, so it's just me to feed. I'm having dinner at bf house tom, and he's taking the children and me out for dinner in weds! Should easily manage until Sat, but it's bread and milk which might not last.. Still, that's only £2 if I need them.
Catch you later
