Same here, fruit and veg are excellent in our Aldi store. The plants outside are mostly looking a bit sad , I suppose staff doesn't have time to water them. Same at Lidl!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
If Aldi cannot be bothered in getting someone to check the plants, they shouldn't sell them0

I think it's down to local store management to an extent.
If they happen to have someone who knows plants then they can be well cared for.
Same with the fruit and veg. Those with properly trained staff do rotate stock, in others I've seen them just tip a new box on top of the old and throw stock around quite roughly. generally they get away poor rotation as turnover is high.
Also, I'm not sure if suppliers are the same all over the country. lately we've had some pretty awful cauliflowers and I've been forced into Sainsbury's!
I think they use local suppliers and I'm fortunate to be living in the heart of vegetable growing country in Norfolk. Almost all the veg I buy in Aldi is very locally produced.0 -
Aldi have a new Bourbon BBQ sauce and Bloody Mary Ketchup for £1.29. Sound interesting!
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Jersey Royals are vile now. I'm sure they were a really earthy and tasty potato back in the late 90s. when my Nan cooked them. Now they taste awful.
The best spud I find in Aldi now is the Charlotte potatoes for taste.0 -

I bought the jerseys just once this year and thought they were a complete waste of money.
Totally agree about the Charlottes in Aldi, we had some with a gammon joint (also Aldi) the other day and they were delicious.0 -

The sad plant thing is just not limited to Aldi.
I recently went to my local Asda and to be honest their plants were even drier than I have ever seen in Aldi.
At Asda you could squeeze the root ball it would turn to dust. The more I live, the more I learn.

Picked up a few more new lines in Aldi today - fresh monkfish, sea bass and tuna, duck breasts, gammon shanks.0

I think I have been converted from Andrex / Velvet to Lidl Floralys, simply because they do not shed anywhere near as much. Less dusting for me!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Asia Week at Lidl, the India on Platter Kohinoor single portion boxed curries are back for 99p each :j. We stocked up on the spinach one and will try the Chickpea also this time. I always make more veg to bulk them out as the portion size is not huge but they are very tasty indeed, the real thing.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

Moving away from food, I was looking at Aldi's Specialbuy clothing, specifically their ladies' chino shorts. They have finally clicked that 47% of women are size 16 or over and these are available under Aldi's improved sizing, sizes 8-20. I got a size 18 pair and they are a true size, nicely made too.
Hopefully I can resist Aldi goodies so that they will be a little bit loose and need a belt by the time the summery weather arrives.
Something to look out for in Aldi: Gorgeous packs of Spanish fuet and chorizo, 3 long slim salamis, no fridge needed until opened - on the Specialbuy food shelf, at the end of the Specialbuy aisle.
The game salamis (same shelf) are also lovely, packed full of flavour, great addition when cooking - I popped some, finely diced, into a bacon and pasta bake - yummy!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
