Aldi don't accept CC's - they didn't up to last week anyway, and I don't believe they have any plans to change that arrangement. You can only pay by cash or debit card. Lidl is the same.
Lidl freeze dried decaffeinated coffee gets a big thumbs up from me - every bit as good as the Kenco I was previously using, but less than half the price.

    LIDL

    Buy:
Coleslaw - it's much creamier and yummier than any other brand
Filled Croissants - kids adore them
Fruit and veg - a lot cheaper
frozen potato wedges - about 60p and really nice
washing machine limescale tablets 3 times as much as Calgon for about the same price

    Don't buy
mince -yuk. I found an eyelid or something in some

St. Ettienne is supposed to be a nice drink too (aldi).

I can vouch for Aldi's St Ettienne being a great lager.
I've said this before but it's as good as "Real" Belgian Stella Artois(tastes like freshly baked bread MMMmmmm), not the crap you get from Whitbreads, Brewed in the UK.

I've been paying by credit card at both of these stores for months now. Must be just your local stores.

FWIW I checked in my Aldi this morning, and they accept Maestro and Delta cards.

I went to Aldi today and decided to try a couple of things we haven't had before, Luxury Ice cream at £1.59 is the nicest I have ever had including HM. I had to stop myself from eating the lot....

Lidl's mature cheddar is lovely. Had a cauliflower from there yesterday which was very nice.

Avoid their frozen peas - like hard floury bullets.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
