You can just add lentils direct to stew, curry or soup, but most broth mix needs pre soaked in boiling water, ideally over night, then rinse through a sieve and add to soup etc.

I don't soak it, I just throw a handful into soup stock, simmer it for an hour and then add the rest of the soup ingredients.

hi, not sure where to ask a question so apologies as this is not a reply per se, but is nevertheless very much about soup/broth mix! Can you help? Following a casserole recipe(which I intend to modify for my slow cooker), I duly soaked my typical barley/lentil/pea dry mix overnight. Problem is, although I've changed water daily, it's been soaking now three days, about to go into its fourth night: is it still OK to use? Thanks.

I would be happy to use them, no problem.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
