Oh sh*t! Just walked back into the office having dropped off the motor for them to investigate problems with the brakes and economy all since the last service they did. I think they've used inferior/grey market brake pads and the filthy air filter doesn't look as though it has been changed for yonks. Unfortunately I have no choice as to where it goes as its a lease job but might just object on the basis of safety.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

If they do a crap job on a contract job, they run the risk of losing the contract altogether. Tell the lease/fleet management....

Nationwide Autocare Centres technically no longer exist, a few months ago they were taken over by Halfords, and will become Halfords Autocare Centres, with full Halfords branding.

Whether this has some bearing on it, I don't know.

ISTR Halfords had their own branded garages a good few years ago now. There's still one or two stores dotted around with an empty garage next door.

Ah yes, they went into a joint venture with "The AA" to provide services on Halfords premisis, however this was nothing more than Halfords subletting their retail space to the AA, when the contract was to be renewed Halfords upped the price for the space, and the AA pulled out.

Halfords are a ruthless retailer, trust me here, that's why they are one of the few retailers making substantial year on year profits.

This time, Halfords have bought Nationwide, and will be using their leased property, just under the Halfords banner. The management will be all through Halfords too..... Trust me, I know these things!

Halfords service parts are quite decent, so if Nationwide use those, it won't be a bad thing.
  • I took my car into a kwikfit a couple of years back as I had done my back brakes by myself and was getting awful binding on one of them. They spent an hour and a half disassembling and reassembling them checking it all through and even putting copper slip on the back of the pads. When I came back they admitted they couldn't find anything wrong. I asked how much they would charge, and he said it was a complimentary service and couldn't charge. I thought that was great service, especially as it was me that cocked it up! (i did later discover that i had to loosen the piston a bit more before it was going again).

So you took your car to Kwak fat, they couldn't fix it and didn't charge you for not fixing it and you think this was good service?

Plus they took an hour and a half, bet it took less than that to actually fix the issues. That's pretty long time for someone supposedly with experience of working with brakes. 45 minutes tops, even then that's too long.

Kwik Fit find nothing wrong and charge nothing to fix it? Bargain.:)
