Anyone know the best method from removing the smell of sick from a wool rug?

Daughter decided to vomit on the rug this morning, have cleaned most of it up but still think the smell remains.

(Did a search but got no results.)

All tips gratefully received!

mix up a paste with baking soda and warm water, spread it over stain or part that still smells, you can also scatter some dry baking soda on top, leave overnight and then scrape it off and hoover up the rest and smell will be gone,

I read this a while back after dog was sick on carpet and it worked.

Thanks for the tips, she's just been sick again on the same rug!

Tucked her up in bed while I get my marigolds on!

Had to clean the rug again today cus it was still stained, its still a bit damp at the moment so I'll let you know when it dries out if the smell remains!

(You can just picture me crawling on the floor with my nose to the rug giving it a good sniff!)

Mixture of bicarb of soda and warm water (makes a thick paste) has got rid of the smell from the rug.

Unfortunately the rug is still stained - don't suppose it helped that daughter had just eaten red lentil soup before she was sick! :-X

Have given the rug another application of the bicarb mixture to see if I can shift the stain.

I've found 1001troubleshooter for stains on carpets and upholstery really effective. Gets rid of all the stains cos with four under the age of seven washing sick is a very common occurence!!! btw it also gets rid of the sicky smell. Hope that helps

Thanks mumoffour!

2nd application of bicarb of soda hasn't removed the stain so hope I'm not too late to completely remove it, shame as we'd only had the rug a week! Think daughter wanted to christen it in her own way!

Try pouring bicarbonate of soa on the stain and leaving it for a couple of hours before you hoover it up.

Failing that try dabbing the area with a little white vinegar.
