Thanks to everyone for the advice - to be honest I'm a bit wiped out over it all, but did want to report them - the only thing is I don't have any proof - I don't have the ability to record phone calls, and I'm sure they will have/will wipe any tapes with that sort of thing on, and the letter I only posted 1st class as I couldn't afford the registered - I was going to see if that worked and then do a registered if they continued.

The lady who called me was very nice though, so I don't mind if she calls back - at the end of the day, they're just doing a job, and as long as they are civil and professional I don't have a problem with it, it's just the language and threats that are totally uncalled for.

Thanks once again everyone for the advice on them :)

    Hi

Just log ever call they make, date, time and name of the person calling. They have to keep telephonme logs for ages, so it would be easy for the Fo or TS to get proff to support your claims.

If anyone gets a phone call from RMA and you have a caller display, if it is an 0870 number can you post it up. I keep getting phone calls where they won't leave messages on the answer phone anymore. I've asked them not to ring and write only, threatening them with action if they should ring again. If it is them then I should have all the ammo I need.

ell I thought things were over for now with them, but have just gotten off the phone (or rather hung up on them twice) and now want to go kill myself. God they are thouroughly horrid people. After agreeing that £400 a month wasn't enough to live off, she demanded money to pay back the amount. I have written, as the very nice last lady asked, to them with my I&E and explaniing everything and proposing how to move forward, and in one fell swoop she's ignored it all and made me feel like crap again.

She was claiming it wasnt' on the system - stupidly I didn't send it recorded, so I can't prove it was (and to be fair, it might not be what with the strikes) but am so so so sick of these vultures and words that I can't use on here.

Am really p'd off that I can't record the calls. I read out the statement about not wanting to be called and she called me a liar and that I didn't know harrassment law very well as they had to be calling 5 times a day per day and they were only calling twice a day so they weren't harrassing me. I tried to tellher she was wrong, but wouldn't (once again - i said the whole of the not calling statement thingy over her)let me talk. She then went on and on about my DebtLine and CAB ref numbers which I refuse to give them as then they would pretend to be me and talk to them no doubt (A company that calls people fat lazy slags over the phone give the impression they're not against breaking the law). So I hung up again on her.

I don't know what I'm worried about - if they make me BR to be honest, they are doing me a favour as I want to go BR but can't find the money anywhere literally cannot find £335 in notes.

ARGH as I'm typing this, have just had a very suspicous call - someone claiming this phone had just rung them and was it a business, residential etc etc number. I just wish wish wish I could find the £335 and get these total gits off my and my OH's back.

BTW, their non 0870 number starts - 01772 incase anyone is trying to avoid them on this number as well

For f88k's sake. You do not have to put up with this load of crap.

You do not need to record their calls. record the date and time of their calls and ask the name of the person who calls you.

as for the rules on DCas, read this really useful thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=290746

    there are some good letters.

Wriite and tell them to stop all telephone calls and remove your telephone number from their system. All comms in writing.

And tomorrow, ring trading Standards and the office of fair trading and tell them what is going on.

Thanks RAS, have stopped crying finally and sat down and printed off the letter again, so will be sending it recorded delivery tomorrow.

Am going to try and be strong if they call again and not end up hanging up on them in floods of tears, but will read the statement to them and if they refuse to say they understand (like tonight) I will just go off and make a cup of tea then come back, see if they are there and hang up.

If I feel even stronger I might use the idea of quoting the bible and redemption to them if they continue.

And will phone trading standards and OFT (guess I can get the numbers from Google? :S) tomorrow as well and report them.

Many thanks, sorry for being pants.

You are not pants, you are a decent person being bullied by a load of whats its. Yes, you should just be able to go to ww,bt.com and find the phone numbers.

RMA finally cashed my last payment after having it for two weeks. Now waiting on the CCA I have requested. I do hope they don't reply so I can drop them like a brick. If they don't provide a copy of the CCA what do I do next, write and inform them that as the yhaven't provided the proof I no longer owe them money, or do I have to inform some one else?
  • This is past history but having found the thread I thought I would pass on some good news...

Barclaycard had passed my default account to RMA and they have to be the worst of the 6 accounts I was trying to deal with.

While all the others were taking my offers of payment and setting up arrangements for 6 or 12 months (in writing!) RMA were a constant rabid dog on the phone.

92 calls in 3 months at one point even calling on a Sunday morning as they said they were working overtime???

I got so fed up with the hassle I ended up going into a DMP (where before I had negotiated everything myself with good results) just so I had a barrier between me and them but even then they kept calling refusing to speak with the DMP people.

In the end the kindness of one of my relatives resulted in her paying RMA a reduced settlement.

That was 9 months ago and it's been plain sailing since then (other than being in debt). All my other accounts are moving along nicely though I still need to budget better.

What I don't get was the "telephone" only policy. As I work for a govt agency everything has to be writing with us and where money is concerned how do the creditors deal with RMA. Do they get a hassled call at 9pm asking for money. I bet not. Even after 3 months checking with Barclaycard RMA had not updated the account hence my credit record was still showing default rather than satisfied. Barclaycard said they would "learn from this lesson" but I never heard anything back.

RMA have now cashed the cheque payment for the CCA request, they haven't got long left, just over a week,to send the CCA now. It would be nice to be able to wipe this debt off.:D
