we are flying with ryanair this year and as dd is 3 she has had to pay full price we also paid so she has a full baggage alowance too assumed all would be ok to take her buggy. on closer inspection realised she isnt classed as an infant but technically a full paying adult so will not get to take her buggy for free called ryanair and they have confirmed this. Luckily i have time to book a buggy on at £8 but if i hadn't realised they would have charged me more at the airport. Ryanair girl even admitted this was a way they make more money!!! so just a warning for all you already stressed out parents about to go on holiday double check you can take the buggy or car seat i guess!!

Here's their table of charges http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=CHARGESPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Go to local supermarket on your arrival and buy a cheapo buggy that you can donate to the locals when you leave.
If youd have parcelled it up as a box within their size limits, how would they have known it was a buggy?illegitimi non carborundum0 -
We have friends fly from EMA very often (so often they know many of the crew!) and they never get charged. Sounds like this is a charge that the ground staff use their discretion on (I find EMA staff to be more than willing to turn a blind eye!).Gone ... or have I?0

But Mr O'Leary says he will never introduce fuel surcharges !!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Thanks for sharing this information! I actually posted a question about this a bit back, because I was paranoid that it was a way for them to make money too!
Do you know though, if we book the pushchair in as baggage, can we still use it to the plane steps or does it get carted off with the suitcases??? And if so how on earth do you safely label a pushchair going in the hold???
Re the suggestion of buying one there, I dont suppose anyone knows how much "cheap" pushchairs cost in Italy do they????0 -
Ive just checked my booking confirmation and it is worded there: "However, one fully collapsible pushchair per infant may be carried free of charge". And an infant is classed as a child under 2..........0

It seems the wording varies throughout the Ryanair website. In their 'Terms and Conditions' it refers to "one fully collapsible pushchair per child may be carried free of charge" but I've also read the 'per infant' wording on other pages on their site.
When I tried to add the pushchair (as chargeable infant equipment for a 2 year old), not only was there the £8 each way fee, but also a charge for amending my reservation: this is £4 per person per direction, so as there were 5 in our family going, this was a £40 charge! So would cost £56 to take a £30 buggy!!! I haven't amended the original reservation ... you can hire a buggy in Spain for 10 Euros for one week, and less per week if you're there longer... ie, will only cost £8 to have a buggy for a week.:rolleyes:0 -
We've got friends who flew from EMA last month, and they were fine with taking a pushchair again (for a child). They are flying back next Sunday, so will update on what happens at the other end! xGone ... or have I?0
