Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything ski m through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning.
I decided on blue for the sticky as it's Monday....
I had to work the weekend so it's no different for me, but I know my OH will be dreading the return.
At least I finished early yesterday and managed to get home for the sunshine and BBQ. I cut the grass and cooked some delicious ASDA special sausages etc. I did manage to hurt my ankle by messing about in the garden, so that is going to give me problems for a few days.
Had a big surprise yesterday. The ducks had been sitting on eggs for weeks and we thought they would never hatch out. Until one duck comes waddling down the driveway with 2 ducklings in tow. I checked the other duck and she had 5 in the nest! I think there is 8 now. They are free to roam, so we may lose some what with Buzzards and other critters about.
Insurance assessor comes today, so I hope he will OK the work to begin. It's been a real nuicance getting quotes as no one wants the job it seems. I called 10 companies in the yellow pages. 4 showed up. 3 gave quotes. 1 of those was a stupid price as they obviously did not need a small job like mine.
I think it will work out OK though.....
Well folks have a nice day. cheers

Morning N9eav and all who cross/follow.
Tried to get back yesterday but the line was against me.
Off to the hospital for results of blood tests for me and DH, so will see if that reveals anything.
:grouphug: all :grouphug:
 everyone else.
Looks like you are in for another good day today :j
Did my nails while watching the Tennis, then needed shortening a little as were catching on the laptop keyboard. The result I expect happened, not as entertaining as some matches, preferred the shorts from the Borg era - did anyone see the short excert?
Rzl, redruby, catowen I wasn't commenting on a need for a guy, just the inability to trust one again, as there are good ones out there, if you come across them, but tbh I found mine when I had "given up on them" IYKWIM:o
N9eav - I know what you mean about builders - if you find a reasonable, good, local one, you have to keep hold with both hands.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning n9eav and all who follow,
Up earlier than normal today, DD is off to London for the day with school, she is going on the london eye, a catamarang (sp) and a walk along south bank ,and a look around covent garden, nice day out for her £30 for me  , we have to leave here at 7.10 and I pick he up at 6.30 tonight depending on the traffic, so we will get a quick takeaway on the way home as she will be hungry by the time we get back.
Other than that I have a couple of loads of washing to do, and a good tidy through, and I need to do an internet shop. After that I might potter in the garden.
N9eav, lets hope some of the ducklings make it they sound lovely.
Hugs to all in need: smoky, penpin, candy, jaywad, beth, Granny, Kathy x
Have good days all,

Morning N9EAV and all who follow.
N9EAV - good luck with the assessor.
Well, I think I'm getting back on form after my 'weekend' cold - thanks for all the good wishes. I'm still annoyed that this is my third one since last October - I'm usually pretty healthy so I hope that's it for a couple of years.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, Mrs Mix, Beth, PenPin, Jayward, Candygirl's Dad and everyone else who wants one.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
Good luck to Mr Donny-Gal with the results.
Yesterday was pretty much of a washout because I wasn't feeling up to much. I did make some flapjack and chocolate cherry cake and manage to cook a roast but that was it, really. The rest of the day was spent mooching around. I hope to get a lot more done today.
Hardup-Hester - I've just read the rest of yesterday's thread where you mentioned your hands were 'burning' from all the sewing; it sounds like RSI, maybe tendonitis - I found these yesterday
http://www.creativegrids.com/acatalog/info_N0329A_C.html and http://www.creativegrids.com/acatalog/info_1HAND___SIZE.html which may be helpful. I'm going to email my sister with the links because she has arthritis and is finding knitting difficult and I might buy some myself to help my tendonitis.
Anyway, I'm off for a shower to try and get a good start to the day. See you all later.

Morning, I've been hovering since 5am waiting for the thread to start, woke at 4 with the normal worrying and couldn't settle so gave up.
Didn't enjoy the BBQ we went to yesterday as most people were laid out sunbathing without suncream, wanted to scream at everyone about skin cancer, due to my DB being diagnosed with it, but didn't want to seem like a nutter, or spoil the party.
So came home and sorted through the food cupboard sorting out the dates on tins, packets etc. (how sad is that) Found a tin of Grapefruit dated 01/07 don't remember buying that at all. Will try it for breakfast. Apart from veg and salad I'm not going to buy any food until cupboards and 2 freezers are bare. That's my challenge for the month. I'm looking after friends house for 2 weeks and have access to their veg garden so will save more money. We've had so much expense with the house to let getting it habitable again.
Have to go to DF's funeral today, thankfully it's not raining, lovely and sunny. Watched the dawn rise, a bit misty over the S/set levels making the trees look like they are floating, beautiful.
Hope you all have a good day0 -
back to work after my week off. where did it go?
yesterday more washing, more gardening, and no ironing. went to do some..honest..but it started spitting out dirty water. so had to switch it off and clean out the boiler (steam generator iron). After all that palaver, once it was sorted I couldn't be bothered to do any.
tonight not sure what for tea, fridge is full so will decide later which meal to have.x x x0 -
Good Morning All
Weather was lovely yesterday, got all the washing dried but no ironing done - it was too hot. Today is going to be very hot too so plan to get some office work done this morning and some ironing before it gets too unbearable. Hope to take the dog down the sea wall later to make the most of the sun before it probably disappears again.
So thats about it for today, have to make a couple of phone calls this morning where I know I will be holding for ages - I hate that they obviously need to employ more staff.
Having a fry up for tea, need to clean my cooker hob so will make it more messy tonight & then give it a good clean tomorrow.
Have a great day.

Morning everyone
the weather looks promising today, really nice and sunny early on.
I was out walking the houndlets at halfpast four and it was really beautiful.
We did manage to disturb the heron from the fishing pond in the local park, he kept moving to the bank opposite us as we walked around.
Sat sitting here at w**k now and trying not to watch the clock:rolleyes:
I cleaned out the inside of the car yesterday afternoon, it`s the first time it`s been done in a year so it took ages and the vac overheated at one stage and i had to wait almost 45 minutes until i could continue after it had cooled down. Today hopefully i`ll be doing a bit more in the garden but not too much, there`s only so much that you can do on three and a half hours sleep so a nap will also be on the cards later.
Good luck with the blood test results for you and your DH Donny Gal
Hopefully i`ll catch up with everyone later.
Have a great day peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all
Good luck at the hospital Donny
It's a beautiful day here again today, so I jumped out of bed at 6.30 and stripped the bed (Aussie, don't you mess with that sentence)Went into the airing cupboard to get some clean sheets, and a new bed set in a box fell out onto my foot. I think I must have woken up half the street, oh did it hurt, ran it under cold water, but there is some bruising, so will nip to the chemist later for some arnica oil.
Had a lovely day yesterday looking after darling GD, we took her to the antique centre where we have units, and four people said she looked just like me. She is such a pleasant little thing, she just smiled and laughed all day.
Asda whoopsie meatloaf for dinner.
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Morning all ... haven't been on OS board since Saturday morning I believe ... went to work Saturday then went for a couple of drinks with OH.
Yesterday I got up at 5am  to do a car boot sale with OH and his friend, selling his friends stuff. Thought it would be better to get some fresh air than sit around the house all day on my only day off. Unfortunately came home with severe sunburn and a touch of sunstroke  so now I have to go to work today looking like a beetroot! It had been an awful day when we set off but by about 8.30am the sun was on full beam! I'll be buying sun lotion for next time. I was in bed by 10pm last night so at least I don't feel too tired today which will make work a little easier!
We're having our Sunday lunch today when I get home from work as neither of us could be bothered to cook it yesterday
Have a good day everyone!Small business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0
