HELP, still got blue screen of death

I've started two threads on her about this, but I'm still lost:o

I keep getting a blue screen of death, the usual error message is BAD_POOL_HEADER - does anyone know what this means?

There are others, but this is the most common.

There is also a problem with my speaker drivers, but this has been going on months (4 at least, software problem stops speakers working).

The blue screen of death has only been the past month (ish).

Also, I can't pay for anything on ebay, it won't let me click & move on, I can click - but I can't move on!

Its not ebay, I went next door & used neighbours, no problems at all.

Sorry for break & edit, it cuts out so often now, I wanted to post that, before it cut out & I lost everything.

Sometimes, when I turn on, it wants me to install the software for a multimedia controller, I think this is something to do with the sound drivers. Needless to say, I don't know if I have the disk or what disk.

I have done system restore, I have tried uninstalling most recent downloads, I have gone on to microsoft & installed recent dowmloads, nothing seems to work.

Do I take it to a local PC man & get windows reloaded - will that sort the driver problem (this is what I did 6 months or so ago, when I had this driver problem before!).

OR do I get Vista loaded, will that come with drivers?

I think fixing it is probably beyond my PC/IT skills.

Anyone have any ideas whats wrong & the best thing to do.

I'm getting fed up with this regular driver problem.

    http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support/browse_frm/thread/17a04472093a5bea?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&rnum=5&prev=/groups%3Fsourceid%3Dnavclient%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26q%3D%2522Bad_Pool_Caller%2522

I know that many people have the following problem: when Windows XP
starts, the blue screen appears with the following error message:
BAD_POOL_CALLER ... and then the system reboots and loads without problems
and then the message appears that system has recovered from serious error.
The reason of this two error messages is that the file pagefile.sys is
corrupted. In order to solve the problem You must recreate the file
pagefile.sys. You can do this by the following way: load as Administrator,
click on Start ---> right-click on My computer, then choose Properties, then
choose Advanced tab. Then click on "Settings" button in the "Visual effects,
processor scheduling, memory usage and virtual memory item". Then choose
Advanced tab. Then click on "Change" button in "Virtual memory" item. Then
remember Your virtual memory settings. Then choose "No paging file" item and
click on "Set" button. Then click on "OK" and "OK" again. Then click on
"Apply" and then on "OK" and again "OK". On the question "Do you want to
restart your computer now ?" answer "Yes". Your computer begins to reboot.
Press F8 when it begins to load. Then choose Safe Mode and boot in it as
administrator. Then press Start ---> Control Panel ---> System then choose
Advanced tab. Then press on "Settings" button in the "Visual effects,
processor scheduling, memory usage and virtual memory item". Then choose
Advanced tab. Then press on "Change" button in
"Virtual memory" item. Then restore Your virtual memory settings You
remembered and press on "Set" button. Then press on "OK" and "OK" again.
Then press on "Apply" and then on "OK" and again on "OK". On the question
"Do you want to restart your computer now ?" answer "Yes". If no message
appears then restart Your computer using Start ---> Turn Off Computer. Your
    computer
begins to reboot. Boot as usual. Now, the problem is fixed.

    or

Start->Run type services.msc, and click OK

    Services.jpg
Double click the Indexing Service and set the startup type to either manual, or disabled. By default, I believe it's manual. (You'll notice on this machine it's not running, and is set to manual. I haven't changed the setting at all. Also, this machine is running SP2) If your machine BSOD's upon bootup, then you'll likely have to boot to safe mode to change this. You can also disable the Indexing Service using msconfig, however, it's generally better practice to do it the services.msc way.

Found this but the fault is a bit unusual look at the bottom of the screen but its a bit tekky... see HERE

Might need to see the PC concerned, look at the quality and mix of components used. Take it back to your pc guy and you may only get more of the same....

I can offer help if your village is south london.

I don't know if the blue screen of death is fixed, but the sound/speakers are:D :D:D:D

So I'm guessing that your fix has just fixed everything, perhaps it was all connected?

Amazing, I was wondering what the best way forward was, a total wipe & reload of vista overwrite.

    5 minutes & you've fixed it

    Oh, small problem.

    Still can't pay on ebay.

Get to review your purchases, click on the blue button & it won't move on.
Def not ebay or paypal, as I went next door & used neighbours & it worked normally.

Any ideas, perhaps its a setting I changed with all the messing about the past month:o

Sorry to be a pain, I bet you wish you'd never answered now:o

I use AOL, but I've been using it for 6 years or so, its the only one I use.

I know people moan about it, but I like it.

do try another browser you might like them anyway so who knows? just to eliminate your browser i suggest try Firefox simply because i believe AOL is somehow linked to Internet Explorer.
