The sound on my PC went ages ago. It went before & I fixed it somehow with a lot of tech help.

Over last weekend I got a blue screen & white writing on it.

I had to hold in button to restart it.

It said something about BIOS as well.

I did lots of Microsoft updates yesterday, can't understand the manufactures website for updates, its Fjitsue Siemens.

It happened again tonight & on the blue screen is wrote BAD_POOL_HEADER amongst other things.

Also sometimes when I start up a new hardwear wizard comes on, saying found new hardwear. It says its a "multimedia controller" & wants me to install softwear:confused:

Can someone help:o

It's almost certainly a problem with your sound or video drivers, I would persist with the website and try to update as many drivers as possible.

Next time the popup appears at startup install the software as that's probably the device causing your problems if XP doesn't think it's installed then you need to install it.

It says I need to install disc???

Do I need to install the drivers & utilities disc that came with the PC?

But wouldn't that be out of date? The PC is a good three years old.

The sound went months & months ago (for the second time) the blue screen only started last weekend.

Do you still think they are connected?

yes but how is a mystery, i suspect there has been a problem with the sound chip having incorrect or buggy drivers installed and as they have now been updated its causing major problems.
Try and get to the manufacturers website and get the latest sound drivers released for the machine or post the model number here and i'll try and find a link

I would be so grateful for that:o

I have been on the website, but it offers loads of drivers with different flags beside them & they seem to be different versions of the same thing, I have no idea which ones to select.:o

    Its a YSSP441921

    Go to this page:

    http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/support/downloads.html

Enter the YS number into the serial number box, select your operating system then download and install the drivers, I would suggest trying audio first, then video and hopefully that will sort out your problems

When you click on that link, it brings up a warning page about security levels & cookies.

I have downloaded stuff in the drivers bit, but I don't know if its the right stuff:o
After you download it, you can extract it, I've done that, what then?:o

    Sorry:confused:
