Hi there
In the past week, I've written to Asda, Waitrose and Tesco for their coupon policies.
All three responded within 48 hours.
As a suggestion, perhaps all posters who have had problems with using coupons should write to the relevant stores and then the next time an unhelpful/unknowledgeable shop assistant says 'No', he/she can show the email and use the MOCs.
In my opinion, that would be the best way of dealing with any issues.
Hope this helps!

Good idea, so hit and miss round here with no consistency betwennbranches of the same supermarket. I tend to use the self serve whichh accept anything up to a limit but a few now have the coupon slot blocked off and a notice saying to ask before using coupons !WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I have been doing that for ages with Tesco as it was so hit n miss and it is great when an unhelpful SA gets shown this email from Tesco CS - I love the look on their faces

I have been using coupons regularly in Sainsbury's without any trouble. Sometimes they say they can't take them without buying the product but mostly they do. On Saturday I had used one coupon when buying an item and then went to the cafe to have a cup of tea. While having my tea I was interrupted by two police officers, a security guard and the manager. I was asked to go out to the back office where I was arrested for deception and fraud. The manager told me that I could answer truthfully or not, if I had used a coupon and I told him that I had. He then told me I had been shopping in other stores and he knew because he had 'intelligence'. At this point the police took over and searched my bag and removed the rest of my coupons. In the end they (police officers) were very nice to me. The manager said very little after first trying to interview me. I am now on bail and have to wait to see if Sainsburys are going to press charges. I have never been in trouble with the police before and I am very worried. I have searched on the internet and feel that, as Sainsburys took the coupons (which are marked on the reciept as a reduction) and took the rest of the money and let me go home with the goods, that they have entered into a transaction. What do you think? Would appreciate any help. By the way, I have never used a self service till.0

Crikey! Poor you...That is terrible! I quiet often use coupons at the self service tills but they have recently stopped you being able to do this with out getting the help of the SA. I suppose this is because they get abused alot! One SA was telling me that a woman used a £20 Argos voucher on the self service tills,And then stuffed a piece of paper through the hole! (This was in Asda)
I hope everything works out ok for you.Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

What rubbish!! The police do not even bother with shoplifters now.
Dont beleive this story for a second, you were either doing something else wrong or well known to the store team for doing wrong things. Their is no way using one moc you will get noticed. Firstly the coupon would stay in the till until the end of the SA shift then in the cash office it is counted but never any checks done to determine if you have bought the product. You have obviously done other things to raise store suspisions and you are not telling us.
But telling us they did this for one MOC i dont think so!!!
Also you will find you wouldnt be bailed for this but cautioned at best, unless again you have history!
I wonder which supermarket you work for and trying to spread disinformation.
In fact prove it list your crime referance number here and police station name.!"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
mmmmn does sound like a sainsburys employee to me trying to put off would be couponers.

Well, I don't think it is a load of laughs and it is true. I don't work for Sainsbury's and I have never shoplifted. Just used coupons regularly. On Saturday I just used one because that is all the cashier allowed. Other times I have had the cashier ask me if I have any more. Thanks for adding insult to injury!0

You will now be banned from entering the USA under the Visa Waiver Program. Was it worth it?I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.0
