HALF PRICE TRAIN TICKETS SALE - 50% off UK RAIL TRAVEL [CLOSED]

Options
Please see SPUCKLE's original post to get this AMAZING grabbit:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=85134
The info is copied, amended and added to below - SPUCKLE was the OP of this deal.

Message to the Board Guides
This offer ends on 1st September so should really remain on the grabbit board until then. This is a classic grabbit with a time limit on it. If it is moved off the grabbit board, then less people are likely to save money. We all know more people look at the grabbit board than anywhere else... please be fair to them and leave this on the grabbit board for two days... please?

This is a repeat of a deal I posted in December 2004 and it WON the post of the month back then. This was a popular topic then, and will be again now. Please leave it on the grabbit board to allow more people to make the most of it!

Usual rail ticket terms and conditions apply to promotional tickets purchased. Tickets can currently be booked for travel up until the end of November 2005. (Edited comment: See post below on how to extend this deadline past Christmas click here ...)

Wanting to travel NOW?
If you can pick tickets up from the "Fast Ticket" machines at some stations, then you may not even have to wait for the postman to deliver your tickets.

Is this offer too good to be true? Not at all, it is a limited promotion by one of the large train operating companies.

Hope it helps you out.

You will get 50% off whether you use a railcard or not. The total shown at the end will be the price of the ticket (with railcard discount included if you have one) less 50%. To check the non-railcard price, simply go through the whole booking process again booking an identical journey, without selecting the railcard option.

If this doesn't work, send details of your journey & I'll try to help you out.

Just a quick note - I tried it and it worked (thanks) - lots of messing about with my multiple tickets and registration and when I got to the pre-check-out page no 50% off.

However, I clicked on the link above again and it 'carried' my shopping basket over and applied the 50%...

Great offer, thanks to OP and to sawanderer for bumping it onto Grabbit. I've emailed this to large numbers of friends, it's the best sort of publicity for MSE.com.

Thanks for posting this! Not only have I saved £35, but the savings mean I can now afford the peak rate open ticket and don't have to tie myself down to any particular train.

Three adults from London Waterloo to Braford-on-Avon (near Bath) return for £24. :j Thank you both! Now looking at other places I might want to visit!
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Okay - this offer expires on 1st September, and you can save 50% on booking tickets up to three months in the future

HOWEVER... you can arrange to travel after this three month period, i.e. for Christmas... but it gets a little tricky. Here's how:

    1. Book a ticket for the latest day that the system will allow... N.B. The only options will be Saver Returns and Open Returns this far ahead. If you are certain that you could get an Apex fare for cheaper later on, then this option may not be for you. Savers and Open returns do, however, give a lot more flexibility of travel times than Apex fares.

    2. Wait for your tickets to arrive in the post.

    3. Close to the date of travel booked on the tickets, pop in to your local railway station and ask to change the date of travel on your tickets. This is allowed in the T&C's for the Saver Return and the Open Returns.

    4. You may be charged a £5 or £10 admin fee for making this change, but you are still likely to be saving more than buying a full price ticket at Christmas time.

    5. Smile as you walk out of the station with your new tickets and seat reservations, as you have just saved yourself a packet by thinking ahead!

Ticket terms and conditions can be found here if you need more assurance...

    thanks for this

just booked me a return ticket for £41 (should have been £82), saving is £19 as I was going to use my car. It was a 600 mile journey so expected to pay about £60 in petrol (it keeps going up anyway). However I save wear and tear on the car and its a lot quicker so I looking forward to the journey now. Guess this promotion worked as one less car on the road.

Just hope I get the tickets in time, I selected first class post it said to allow 3-5 days and I travel early next Monday
    :j
  • Thanks have just saved me 31 quid on 2 tickets down to the smoke-cheers!!
