18185 cannot ring mobiles

Options
Myself and a neighbour who use this number for landline calls are having starnge connections when trying to ring UK mobiles. There is a long delay and sometimes it rings and the person who answers is german. Sometimes there is no connection after the " 6 p per minuite" voice.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I think you have answered your own question. The calls are presumably routed abroad (to Germany?) and back again. Presumably it depends on the cost of calls to each particular destination (eg UK mobiles) at any particular time. Doing it this way allows them to keep the costs down, but obviously it comes at a price - that is it's not 100% reliable.

I've had problems calling a certain mobile number via 18185. That same number is fine via BT and Primus and from other mobile phones. The message from 18185 talks about a lack of credit. I've reported this to 18185 and have been told my account is in good standing and that this is being investigated but nothing more so far.

far, I have exactly the same problem as you and have sent a message via the web page but there was no fault listed that matched. Is that what you did.?

I've had a reply now saying the problem's been fixed, and it has.

I am having the same problem as far and djohn. It's happened on 2 different mobile numbers, I get the message 'welcome to orange just talk you do not have any credit registered for just talk at the moment.....etc.'

The next time I tried one of the numbers I got routed via a very strange ring tone and then a foreign sounding voice answered!!

I have tried to report these 2 problems to 18185 via their website but I enter the details in the online form and click 'next' and the page goes to a 'The website cannot display the page.'

    "Dear Customer,

We apologize but our system may have been experiencing technical problems for a time over the last few days causing several erroneous messages to be played to some customers. This problem was fixed and you should now be able to use the service as normal. Your account is in good standing.

    Kindest regards,
    Customer Services."

I had another problem last night, ended up speaking to another country again!! The poor bloke on the other end sounded quite exasperated, I hope it's not happening to him too often :o

I complained to 18185 yet again and received this response:

    "Dear Customer,

We strive to provide the best service we can, for as cheap as possible and unfortunately this means that we cannot always guarantee that the connection will be perfect. In this case, there are too many people trying to use the service to one area, and this has created a problem for you. While we constantly upgrade our services to accommodate the service levels necessary, it can take time for the line to become reliable and you will either have to keep trying during this time, or use your normal service provider.

In the meantime we have reported this incidence, and the accompanying details to our technical team and have asked them to look into the issue.

    Kindest regards,
    Customer Services."

At least they are honest :D
