All Phones Are Now Free to UNLOCK!!!

I wanted to unlock my Nokia E61 which was locked to Vodafone.
I called them up and was surprised to be told that they would do it for
free. Offtel have ruled that as of Feb 2008 all phones have to be unlocked
to all networks..... FANTASTIC.

I also requested the code for my E90 which is only 3 weeks old and
they provided that also free gratis. both are now sim free and work
perfectly :D

Well Done Offtel

This would be fantastic news. However, the OFCOM website makes no such claims.

Thought this was effective as of 01/04/2008?
  • Is someone pulling our collective p*******s?????
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.
  • As I said I am with Vodafone, If you have a locked Mobile on Vodafone
call 191 and try it :-)

Worked for me on both phones....

Not quite sure I understand this - I recently emailed Virgin about doing this and they did it for free, but T-Mobile want me to pay £15!

Virgin do it for free if you have topped up with at least £30 in the past

Email them and they'll do it for free with NO topup (they did for me at least after i told them that i got no signal where I live)

  • Yes, all Vodafone phones are free to be unlocked, whether you're still in contract, out of contract or have a PAYT handset. All you have do is either go into your vodafone store to see if they have the unlocking codes (they only have a select few) and if they don't, you just have to ring 191 off your handset and they normally send it you in an email or if you're not calling off the phone that you want to unlock, they will talk you through it.
