spare a thought for rick

whilst moaning on another thread about the tat presents i received from my family the following has made me realise that this is not important.

we've all been hit by a stomach bug prior to Christmas, and my 17yr old nephew Rick is no exception and missed Christmas dinner because he was laid up at home with stomach cramps.
this morning he was found on the floor unconscious and after being rushed to hospital in an ambulance he is in a serious condition. he cannot be operated on until he is stabilized and the likely hood of him being stabilized is touch and go. his life is in the balance.

they suspect perionytis or burst in the bowel- the prognosis is not good. and my family are at the hospital having been prepared for the worst, i am at home with the children hanging around by the phone.

that old tat which was in the bin has now been placed near to me, with the thought of being closer to Rick.

please spare a thought and prayer for Rick.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Oh that's terrible news. Saying a prayer for him. Keep us posted.
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

the poor kid. here's hoping they've caught it in time, he's young and healthy and that gives him a better chance than most of us.
    will keep willing him on.

i suppose the "good news" is that he's more (??) stable and they've whipped him down to theatre although his chances haven't changed.

  • Sorry to hear of your sad news. A serious illness always puts priorities in order. The fact that they are now operating is promising. As already stated Rick is young & healthy, so stronger to take his op on.

Sending hugs & prayers to all concerned xx
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
