Yesterday I posted about problems I was having with the latest update to Comodo Personal Firewall.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=606557
I have had an uneasy feeling about it so have been looking at the Comodo site to see whether I'm the only one.
I spotted this
http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/onlinetest.html?currency=GBP®ion=United%20Kingdom&country=GB
I downloaded the Parent Injection Link Test, when I ran it with the latest version(3.0) all 3 sections FAILED immediately.
I uninstalled version 3.0, reinstalled the previous version 2.4 which PASSED the 3 tests.
I then uninstalled this, reinstalled version 3.0 ran the tests, it again FAILED.
Reinstalled 2.4, ran tests, PASSED again.
So I suggest anyone who has updated over the weekend try the Parent Injection leak Test in the above link.
Interestingly the shortcuts in Programs and Desktop now work.
The site recommends that ME users don't upgrade, so it can't be too bad.

Is no one else worried that Comodo Personal Firewall latest (3.0) version may not be working correctly?
If the sound of the Parent Injection Link Test is putting you off, don't worry.
The test involves downloading a small program, open the folder until you see the Comodo icon, click on it, a small box opens, put some text in the box, click Test1, the firewall should flash an alert.
If you see the Comodo site with your text, the firewall has failed.
Continue with Tests 2 and 3.
These test your firewall through your browser(s).
This test can be used to check the performance of any firewall.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Have you tried the GRC firewall tests?

Why try any more tests?
When CPF 3.0 fails the PILT, the Comodo page gleefully tells you that you should use Comodo 3.0 because it's so good.
So it fails its own test, and I've gone back to the previous version which passes the test.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Passes on my system.
Still unsure about comodo though. Been on for about 5 days and still in its infuriating learning phase.
Will give it a couple of weeks before I decide whether to ditch it completely or not.0 -
I was just thinking... if you don't trust their firewall software then why trust their testing software0

My free Sygate firewall failed Comodo's first test and past the others. Am using Opera browser.
Will try Comodo as Sygate failed Grc's ShieldsUp but past their leak test.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0 -
f you don't trust their firewall software
Up until now I have trusted their software, In fact it is often recommended on this site and others.
I think it's fair to say it's probably the best free Firewall around.
That's why I've reverted to the previous version which has been fine and secure and has given no problems at all.
When I get chance I'll try your links.why trust their testing software
If they were going to rig their tests surely it would make sense to skew it in favour of the latest version.
As I stated in an earlier post, when the Firewall fails, the message is along the lines of "Ha Ha you should install Comodo PFW 3.0"Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Comodo penultimate free firewall version failed its own leak test, and failed Grc ShieldsUp test and their leak test.Doh!
Can't be bothered to install latest version cos I'm p**d off.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0 -

“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice
I tried Zone Alarm which failed all the above tests as did Comodo's previous edition. As Sygate was the only one that passed Grc's leak test I've gone back to it, because at least it past one of the tests.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there.
