What has been left behind in your new house?

when you've moved into a new place as a homeowner or tenant, what have the previous occupants left behind, and did you put any of it to good use or make any money from it?

Our last sellers (with our permission) didn't take much of their stuff away, as they had no transport and removing what was not needed or couldn't be stored would have cost them money they didn't have. We on the other hand have a slick way of clearing out houses. Hence we simply suggested they take what they needed and lock the door behind them. This is basically what they did and we were not unhappy with that.

We were left with:
Settee and armchair - went straight to the tip after we sliced the bottom off for loose change.
Veneered Dining table - still have and want to give away on Freecycle - any takers here??
Small occasional table - to freecycle I think. I keep overlooking the damn thing!
Double pine bed - Mattress chucked and bed Freecycled
Single Pine bed - ditto
Single metal framed bed - mattress chucked but bed base cleaned and kept as is in VGC.
Painted utility wardrobe and chest of drawers - successfully freecycled.
Rustic pine cupboard and coffee table - will be kept.
Cooker, washing machine and microwave - taken to scrapyard and weighed in at £7
Fridge freezer - tip
TV working - given to friend
Various boxes in loft - to go out for recycling
Computer monitor and scanners - tip and freecycle
Plastic storage boxes x 5 - kept for my use, I've been looking for some of these for months!
Gardening tools
Beswick siamese cat damaged - probably e bay
Bone china vase - ditto
2 sectional ladder - I'll use this myself
..and more but I'm losing the will to live
Oh yes, there was a cuddly toy at the end - but our dog got there first :rotfl:

Previously I have bought a house from a retired carpenter and he left all his tools for me. There were some lovely old tools there such as woodturning chisels etc. I still have all of these. Again this chap didn't have access to transport, so I informed the EA that effects left behind were not an issue for me. I think this elderly gent was appreciative of that and he made sure his tools were put away tidily. When I took possession I checked around the house and shed etc and phoned the EA to tell him that the seller's tools had been left, and how could we get them to him. I was told that he had left them for me, as I probably had more use for them that he did now. The kind thougt did bring a tear to my eye I must admit.
