.
There are practical and useful tips on how to shop scattered all over the place, and of course, just about as many tips as there are posters.
So I'd like to make this thread a collection thread (rather than a discussion one) of the ones that serve you best.
Such as...
To save the temptation for impulse buying when I go to buy a carton of milk in the local shop I only take enough money for milk, with just a few pence extra in case of a surprise price increase. That way my impulse can't cost me more than, say, ten pence.

Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. If you pop into the supermarket for just a few items, only take a basket then you can't carry too much extra to the till.
Also, only go to the aisles where your planned purchases are.0 -
Something I have picked up from this site over the last few weeks and have used to change my shopping habits recently :
only buy BOGOFs that you actually use or are on your shopping list anyway, otherwise they are not the bargain they seem to be and you should stay away from them - sorry if this is stating the obvious to some of you, but it is a new way of shopping for me!0 -
If you can do it (be brave!) and only take cash! Works everytime for me.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

https://www.fixtureferrets.co.uk will tell you who has what on BOGOF, 3 for 2 etc.
https://www.trollydolly.co.uk will tell you how much any given item is across a range of supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys etc.)0 -
Walk to the supermarket, you'll be amazed how much you don't need when you have to carry it homeOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Limit your time in the shop. The more time you have to browse, the more likely you are to pick up something extra. I plan my shopping around picking my daughter up from work, I would never hear the end of it if I were to be late :rolleyes:Enjoying an MSE OS life0
