Hello all,
Budget completly blown last month, was going to be £265 (£5.00 less than the month before) - ended up at £285.82
So, I'll try for £265 again  finish date 27th July
I'm trying a different way, I went to Asda yesterday and bought a load of non perishable foods, spent £95.05
The idea being that, for instance we eat crisps, OH takes a pack for lunch and I somtimes have a bag at supper.
Walkers were on Roll Back at £2.00 for bag of 26, last time I bought crisps I ended up going to the co-op which is our local one and buying 12 for £1.50, plus other things, no dount  so you can see the problem.
I'm going to try a veg box for meals as well, I've had one before and I liked it. The idea being, it forces you to cook from scratch and it will contain lots of fruit so I don't have to "pop in" to the co-op.
So far spent £95.05 - finish 27th July - Budget £2650 -

Hi Everyone,
I woud like to join in with July's grocery challenge.
I tried the April one, and failed terribly. Havent done it since then, as we moved house in May, and have been totally disorganised since then.
However, house is now in order, and Im determined to stick to a budget of £250 for 2 adults and 2 kids.
All I every seem to do is shop, and I know I waste so much food, partly because Im too lazy to cook it so it goes to waste, and partly because I buy so much, I cant possibly eat it all!!!!
Freezer quite full just now, so hopefully I have about 10 - 14 days dinners/lunches in, so I will only need to buy fruit & veg, cereal & milk.
My month will run from 1/7 - 31/7.
Good Luck to everyone.

Hi everyone,
Count me in again, I spent just over my £400 budget in June but it was my first month, I'm getting the hang of it now so budget for July is £350.
What are these fruit and veg boxes you folks are talking about?
Thanks

Hi,
Am going to start my July from 1st July to make it easier to keep track. Am aiming for £100 for the month as I think last months £80 was unrealistic. Also have empty freezer and cupboards so think £100 will be hopefully achievable.0 -
I'm in and blow me I better stick to it this time, I am having a major re-vamp of finances and need to get some control happening (I come back every few months saying the same thing - why does that dang lightbulb keep switching off and on?)
Well there is me, 13yoDS who is entering the eating like a horse phase and lovely new GF who visits most weekends - I've no idea how much but I'll say £200 and see how we get on.
Good luck everyone :TComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Companies in some areas do a veg/fruit box delivery scheme. They usually choose a selection of fruit and veg for you. You can find many companies on www.bigbarn.co.uk (also good for finding farm shops etc) but does seem to depend hugely from area to area on quality, pricing etc.One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Put me down for £100 - my first go at this so I've made a bit of a guess!
I've just stopped working evenings and finished my exams so its about time I got into a habit of cooking properly and so on, so that should help0 -
My first time to challenge myself like this! Although I have had need to 'cut back' in the past so I am quietly confident this can be achieved.
My goal is £200 for the week which includes 2 adults, 2 children, 2 cats, and 1 rabbit. I'm vegetarian but my son and husband eat meat sometimes. I have several cheap veggie recipies which are our 'staples' with the occasional new recipe undertaken plus usually we have one takeaway a week but we share so it's under £10 for the 4 of us. This will only be allowed if I think we are in budget out of the allowance for that week.
I don't work but hubby gets paid weekly so I am breaking my budget down for week to week allowance which always begins the day he gets paid which is Friday (today). So far I have planned all but one of our evening meals for the week (gotta leave room for that takeaway!) and written a list, and I've been to iceland to get what I can from there on the way home including some of the week's milk. I've taken £50 out of the bank to help me keep track of it in my purse instead of reaching for the debit card all the time which I am guilty of.
I have spent £11 in Iceland on milk, sugar, bacon for hubby on sunday, eggs, penguin bars for school (18 for £1!), cheese, chips for the weekend, and bananas which admittedly were not on the list yet but should have been. I'll go to ASDA later when I get my son from school and get the veggies and cat food (£1.85 for 6) then tomorrow I will try to pick up what's remaining plus the rabbit food. Our cats are on half a tin of meat each once a day which seems to suit them fine. They drink a little milk at a time throughout the day whenever they ask me for it which is usually whenever they see me make a cup of tea!
We even have pocket money which is £10 each and £5 for the kids but they are supposed to earn it or they only get £1 but this doesn't get properly policed lately. We tend to save it up when we want stuff which works out really well! I bought a ds lite for myself last month to replace my old blue nintendo ds which the kids now share. Got to prioritise lol.IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
