Dad's are notoriously difficult to buy for and the last thing you want to buy is a slightly different version of the same socks you buy every year!
Father's Day is on 17 June so I thought I'd tap MoneySavers' wealth of knowledge to create a database of the best, most thoughtful pressies on a budget. And dad's if you've got any bright ideas for gifts or have received something in the past you've really appreciated, share it with us!

How about a cheque repaying all the loans you scrounged off him in your younger years with the promise "Honest Dad, I'll pay you back next week". !!0

Not only is it Father's Day - it's my Dad's 65th birthday! And as usual I have no idea what to get him.
He doesn't particularly drink and doesn't smoke. No point getting him anything electrically - he sells them! As for hobbies TBH he's worked so hard throughout his life looking after us kids he doesn't really have any.
Any ideas out there???
I'm swaying towards the "experiences" gift idea rather than anything else (i.e. clothes) .0 -
Mothers Day, or to give it the proper name "Mothering Sunday", has a religious basis.
Fathers Day, GrandParents days etc are complete inventions by the card industry to make people buy more cards.
So call me scrooge but I don't see why we all have to slavishly spend money just because some bright spark in marketing has invented a fictitious day. And if you must do it then don't fall even further into the trap and spend money buying presents as well as a card.
Right - I'm ready and braced for the backlash!0 -
How about,
Bear Grylls book "Born Survivor"
Survival techniques from the most dangerous places on earth .
It helped me get through the weekend with the outlaws!
At Asda for half price at £9.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -

No backlash from me! you are absolutely right! However, what it does do is give you the kick up the b-side to remember how great your mums and dads are and to show them you care. I'm a mum now and I just love opening a handmade card from my kids and they love to give me a little pressie.
Daddy is getting some smelly (bought at Boots with advantage points £3.34), home made card, home made cookies and maybe a t-shirt - if I can get one cheap enough!
We're clubbing together with brothers and sisters to buy national trust membership for the year for my own dad. That will give him plenty of free days out for the next 12 months.!0 -
I know that this sounds like a joke, but it's not. It would make a great gift for any Dad who is a fan of Monty Python - that's most men over 30 I think!
I just had an email from https://www.seetickets.com with an advert for a special fathers' day deal. I have pasted the words here. I think that this is OK to post here as opposed to the codes board as it is not a discount.
Forget the slippers, socks and nasal hair trimmer! This Fathers’ Day why not give him something he'll really want. Yes, with tickets to the hilarious Monty Python's Spamalot not only is he guaranteed a knight to remember but with him out of the house, why not treat yourself to a perfect knight in?
