Mother of the Bride - Plus sizes

Options
My DD is getting married in sept, and we have everything booked and sorted - apart from My outfit

Everyone keeps asking what I fancy wearing, what style, colour etc, and to be honest, I really don't have a great deal of choice. I've trawled the internet looking for larger sizes that are that bit more expensive. Budget isn't a problem, it's the choice that is!

I've looked at all the usual catalogues such as Simply Be and Ambrose Wilson, and none have anything suitable.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in West Yorkshire.

Many thanks.

Sally

You don't say what size you are but Monsoon go up to a size 22 (maybe even a 24 too!) and they are very generous in their sizes. If you're really lucky you may even catch a sale in there....they have the most fantastic sales ;)

  • I'm larger than a 22 I'm afraid. We have bought the bridesmaid dresses from Monsoon, and they are truly delightful. Minty green, strapless with hindreds of beads sown on.

  • I had the same problem with my mum last year...we tried everywhere and just couldn't find the right thing...

In the end I went into a little boutique just by my work...proper old fashioned style shop where the 'ladies' just took mum in had and told her what did and didn't suit her...'I will NOT let you walk out here with that lady - I wouldn't sleep'!!!

It's in Newcastle-under-Lyme unfortunately - but there must be loads of these little dress shops around in Yorkshire. Have you been to Halifax?

    Good Luck!

When I got married, I arranged an appointment with a personal shopper in Debenhams for my mum who is a plus size. The appointment was free with no obligation to buy anything...in the end there were about 3 fabulous Jacques Vertes outfits to choose from, everything from Hat to shoes matching.

    Hi there Yorkshire-lady
I know just where you are coming from..as a "well upholstered" individual myself...i have the same problem...i have just found EMPIRE STORES-you can shop online and they go upto a size 34 i think and they have a sale on at the moment, and there is also a company called BONPRIX that you can do online...and for most of their clothes they charge 1 price for all sizes "woohoo"..im not sure if they will have what you are looking for..
I have just managed to kit myself out for my jollies in a few weeks, without leaving the house...
    hope its of some help
