£13 of coupons from Somerfield Magazine

A few weeks ago I ran out of coupons and was concerned about having to pay full price for my shopping :>

To my delight I visited my local Somerfield where their magazine had two pages of Somefield coupons off various things from Vileda Floor Mop to washing up liquid. As ASDA are happy to take these against my weekly shop I was delighted. I never try to get my whole shop for free - just use £5 or £10 off coupons at a time.

Again this month to my further delight the Somerfield mag. has £13 worth of 50p and £1 coupons off various drinks - beer etc.

I have picked up a couple of these mags and look forward to returning to discounted shopping for this month at least.

Keep up the good work Somerfield !!!!
Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!

Asda takes them against anything and the magazine is free - or at least I hope it is as I have never paid for it. There is a stand with them after the checkouts in my Somerfield so they must be free.

Right, I'll be getting me one of them then! I think I might feel a little dodgy in Asda, but I guess if thats their policy! This is their policy right, not something you just 'get away with'?

Also is there a limit on the percentage that can be vouchers?

Depends on the individual store. I have tried two Asdas near me, they don't take them. Neither do our Tesco, tho I have heard that some do. It is a case of try it and see (if you don't want to be embarrassed like I was, you could phone the store first to make sure ;) )

I did initially have a problem at my local store but I asked at customer services and they said that they would take them and that they would bring the coupon acceptance policy up at the next checkout operator meeting so that they would all know. Since then I have had no problems.

It is Asda policy - I have an email from them which states that "........we DO accept other retailers coupons as long as we stock the item the coupon / voucher relates to."

As for the limit - I have used a £1.50 coupon against a completely different item that cost £1.68 making it 18p. IMHO it is best to make a saving on your shopping rather than to try to get your shopping for nothing. The customer services manager said to me - ASDA are not out of pocket with these coupons as they send them back to the National Coupon Handling centre in Northants and they get the money back from the manufacturer.

I've never known my Asda take them either :( They used to take Tesco and Sainsbury coupons but they don't take these now.

One rather superior check out assistant at my Asda handed them back without a word!!

I called the Asda customer services helpline 0500 1000 55 and they suggested that if I had any trouble with a store not accepting coupons that I should get customer services in the store to call the above number and have the policy explained.

Now I have seen posts in the past where people advise not making a fuss about this issue but I do not feel that clarifying the company policy is making a fuss. If the company policy is to accept the coupons then a particular store should accept them unless they have a very good reason.

To avoid a problem at the checkout or if you are in any doubt - ask at the customer services desk for 'clarification of the coupon acceptance policy' and show them the coupons.

I like your style - making a fuss is fine, as long as you are right!
