I don't have any daffs open yet, but lots in bud.
Not much in the garden at the mo - too wet and windy. So here's a couple of photos of what I'm hoping to improve this year.

Lovely garden Penny! I wish mine was half the size.
Although it has been a nice day here, it has been too windy to really get out. I did take a quick peak and I seem to have some growth with the garlic, can see them sprouting above the ground now. My seedling onions, spring onions, tomatoes & peas are doing well. How long before re-potting them into a bigger pots roughly? I guess I had better get ready for a second wave as it will be 2 weeks this weekend.0 -
Whatever you do or don't do, PLEASE leave the central tree there whatever it is.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You'll be glad to know it's staying - can I say that it's central  to my plan :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It's a Victoria plum, and crops well, at least every other year.
You can't quite see it in those pics, but I'm creating a curved border, that comes from the garage (on the left, just out of the pocture) to the plum tree. There's a curved edge cut already, edged with sunken boards, and bricks around the tree (the curve there is too sharp to bend the boards). This will be turned into a curved border, with a trellis. I'm planning climbers up the trellis.
There are lots of bulbs shooting in the border around the tree.

Gorgoeus garden Penny, I'm soo jealous of all the gardens posted on here as I have a small one. I guess realistically I can't cope with anything bigger at teh moment but I'd love to spend all my time pottering.
I have some tete a tete daffs out in a chilly spot at the front really bright and cheery and a few other things coming up now which I don't yet recognise I'll leave them and decide if they're weeds later on. I used to keep a notebook of what I planted and where and when, should do so again.
I'm going to move some plants from the back garden which I inherited from the prev owner to give me a tiny bit of space for more veg. It's things like astilbe which I reckon should be on the shady side but they're in full sun at the mo.
I'm waiting for my delivery of the compost bins from the council - must find out when I ordered them - must be nearly a month.
Also got to look for a bat box as evil devolpers are knocking down big trees and old thickets nearby where I think the bats are living. My boys were making protest signs and barricading the entrance as their den is being destroyed - my little eco-warriers aahh (the workers had gone home for the night)
I bought some seeds for the yellow beans which someone somewhere on MSE recommended but they say on them don't sow til May so I'll have to contain myself. Def going to start off some other things this weekend tho'.
Got the day off tomorrow supposed to be writing my essay but it's going to be a lovely day so guess what I'll really be doing??Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Ooh I'm so jealous!
Well I'm moving in on March 9th so I'll post you all a picture of my blank canvas as soon as I'm back online and maybe then I'll be able to join in on the thread! Obviously I want to wait for a little while to see where sun & shade fall - but not for long as I want to get my vegetable garden started!
We're going to lay out string / sand for where we want the curved beds, it's still going to be mostly lawn as my 2 year old is looking forward to playing in a garden at last. For the first year, we're going to use the beds as a vegetable patch, with annual flowers in as well for colour - we'll plant up a few of the perennials we've bought with us from this house but not that many, and I'll have to try & restrain myself from buying any!
Over the next year we'll be working on clearing & planning the allotment, which is through the garden but currently all grass & weeds. We'll be building raised beds, laying a pond, etc. As we start planting up next autumn, we'll gradually be able to reclaim the 'garden' part as a garden, and have more pretty things. It will very much be a wildlife garden - I've had one here for three years so I roughly know what I want to do! The allotment will also have it's fair share of wildlife attracting plants - and the pond of course - as I want it to be away from my toddler. I also want a few trees at the top of the allotment to a) attract wildlife b) be useful fruit & nut trees c) help shade us from the field that our allotment backs on to and d)give us somewhere shady for the majority of the plants we've brought from our current garden - mostly ferns and hostas so far as the entirety of my current garden is permanently in shade. Although I want it to be a 'proper' allotment with plenty of space for produce, it is garden shaped and tagged on to the end of my garden so I want it to be our 'secret garden' in appearance as well - that way I won't feel bad about Isaac (my 2 year old) having his 'own' garden with plenty of lawn and toys & the odd football kicked into my plants.
All money saving of course - I've collected lots of seeds and got garden vouchers for Christmas, I know that I'm going to have to spend a fair bit on a pond liner and trees so I want to get everything else as cheaply as I can manage it - and of course save money on buying fruit & veg over the course of the year!
Wish me luck & I'll be back when I'm finally the proud owner of my new garden!0 -
Your garden is lovely, I would love a garden that big but unfortunately the gardens in Liverpool suburbsdon't tend to be too big. Roll on the day when we can move.
I love looking at photos of gardens, and houses come to think of it. In fact I am just down right nosy.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Well, on my windowsill in March (:rotfl: ), I am now the proud owner of 4 sweetcorn seedlings! I am totally surprised to see them already as I only sowed them Monday and the packets said germination in 7-21 days. I am thrilled though, we do like our sweetcorn, especially our 5 year old! I can't wait for tomorrow, we are going to potter in the garden, clean it up, move some stuff into the green house, try and plant out the onion sets. The weather had better hold!0

It has been a gorgeous day today. Yesterday and today have been dry and sunny, yesterday was windy but today really felt like the first day of spring.
DH was out there clearing out the old shed that we're giving away to a nice young couple who contacted us via Freecycle - they want it for an allotment. We're having a new shed within the next couple of weeks. We took some stuff up to the council recycling place - cement that had turned into concrete, an old lawn-mower etc. I've moved some of the pots that I want to use for tomatoes, dwarf beans etc, and I've dug over a bit more of the patch of ground I plan to use to sow parsnips and broad beans.
The birds are getting very busy, robins very active - I turned over a huge number of worms of all sizes - and the frogs are still active. A lady is coming tomorrow to take some of the frog-spawn and she's bringing her kids to see the frogs.

Wow Penelope, you're garden is HUGE! And I thought mine was big
I want to post a pic of mine now, but it'll have to wait until I've done a bit more tidying and planting. Compared to everyone else's pics my garden looks an absolute tragedy!
All of my seeds have now sprouted and I'm rapidly running out of windowsills. The weather's not looking too fab for tomorrow, but then it was pretty much a nice day today so we'll see whether we can get any time outdoors in the afternoon.
