Thai food!!

In the spirit of learning to cook from scratch I try to buy some new herbs and spices each week to extend my offerings from mince and casseroles to something a little more exotic.
I've bought a tub of Thai seasonings containing in four separate compartments, Crushed Chillies, Corriander Leaf, Kaffir Lime Leaf Powder and Lemon Grass. It has a web site address on the packaging but having gone to the site they don't have any recipes to give me a few ideas to get started.
Has anyone got any simple recipes which I can try these out on? I have chicken goujons (reduced price of course
), peppers, onions, leeks, celery, cauliflower, tinned tomatoes, rice, etc (all the good old MSE stock items
).
My family now have high expectations of me, due to the new slow cooker and the wealth of recipes I have been experimenting with from Money Saving Old Style :j.

I'm thinking about learning to make a Thai green curry from scratch so I'd be interested in how you get on! Delia has this advice:

It looks as if you just whizz them all up together.0 -
Brilliant, thank you. I think I'll be able to adapt this. Hubbie and I can't have the coconut milk 'cause we are on low cholesterol diets, but I think I could use the base ingredients and adapt to a stir fry ...Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Send for the free Blue Dragon recipe cards (Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese recipes)
http://www.bluedragon.com/freerecipes/
I got mine this morning and they include recipes using the seasonings you mentioned. 8 x wipe-clean cards in a holder with a lovely pic of a dragon on the front.

I've just been going through my fridge and I've noticed that there are quite a few jars of half used sauces and pastes. What normally happens is that I use them for one meal, put them in the fridge thinking that I'll use them again in a few days / weeks but then I forget about them and sometimes go out and buy new jars.
So, can I freeze things like red curry paste and stir fry sauces and if so, can I freeze them in the jars they come in or do I have to decant them into plastic pots?0 -
Definitely decant them, I remember reading somewhere that freezing glass can be a bit iffy.
As for the sauces - don't know for sure because all sauces are different, but since I did the very same thing as you with a sauce recently I'm going to freeze the next remainders and see how it goes. After all I've nothing to lose if I would have ended up binning forgotten remainders.
Don't forget to save the jar for when you get the urge to make your own jams/pickles/chutneys/marmalade/lemon curd...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Did anyoen see "The F word" on wednesdy night? He went to Doncaster prison and was cooking a thai turkey curry. Can anyone remember what he put in it? or even just suggest a recipe that includes red pepers & lemongrass??
