Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Ooooooer! Have never started a Daily Thread before. Hope nobody minds. I'm only awake because XDH stunned me by asking me if I would like to have dinner with DS and DD and him tonight! Needed a glass or three to recover from that shock. We actually had a pleasant evening. So much so that I have invited him to dinner tonight.
Hope everyone is well - especially those who are suffering from one or more conditions at the moment.
Been in contact with two or three peeps today and hoping to meet up with some of them over the coming days. New Year in Scotland. Sorry folks, I may live in England but no-one celebrates New Year like the Scots. Hogmanay in the Central Belt! DS and DD are sooo looking forward to it.
Must go now (I'm rambling and I know it. ssssshhhhh!)
Hiya to all who follow. xxx

Hi anniebooklover and all to follow. :hello:
Annie, I'm glad you had a good evening with your ex and your children. I hope tonight goes well too.
Another relaxing day planned here today……….apart from me working New Year's day, the whole family is on holiday until the 8th of January. It's great! I love not having a timetable to stick to and not having to be up at 6.45am every morning.
Later today we’re off to my Dad's for lunch. Afterwards we'll go for a walk or might even feel brave enough to have a peek at some of the sales, although I really can't bear the thought of the crowds and there's nothing I really need.
As Dad normally goes a bit over the top when he's cooking we'll only need something light for tea, so I've made a lentil soup from the gammon stock and I'll make some crusty bread to go with it. That way we can eat whenever we're hungry.
I hope that you all have a good day.

well another day at work ahead.
early finish though as we are off to see Chitty chitty bang bang tonight. seen it before in London and loved it.
money saving....not a lot going on here. bought some towels in the MandS sale online. phone bill came in yesterday and ms dogrose is in the doghouse again!! 110 calls before 6pm and 107 calls to a mobile. these are not included in my deal and came to £30. She ran up a big bill before and I had hoped that this quarter I would have caught up and the direct debit could be reduced. She is now on her last warning and I have looked in to call barring. If it happens again the call barring is going on. costs £1.75 a month but might be worth it in the long run.

'Morning Anniebooklover, Pink Winged, Dogrose and everyone else who follows ... :hello:
Had a nice relaxing day yesterday doing OS things. Made up a batch of butter, irish soda bread and a huge batch of tomato soup (for tea with the rest in portions for the freezer). OH made pasta and I made scratch-made bolognese. Eldest DD and her OH called in
Today I'm going to pop into the local town and meander around the sales. I know yesterday was the big sale day but I couldn't be bothered. I'm not really after anything but a good stove top casserole pan that you can also put into the oven and perhaps some bedding. If I don't get these it's not the end of the world.
Have a lovely OS day everyone :hello:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Off to work soon. One good thing is it stops me spending money. I had a quick look about the town at lunch time, but it's such a crappy place there was not much for sale.
I do need to get to M & S before the sale dries up to get some new work trousers with the £20 vouchers I have.
I had a look in the ASDA sale yesterday and that was useless for blokes anyway.
Soup is on the menu at the moment and it's far better for me than all the massive roasts.
I need to get some steak though and try out my new grill thingy....
I hope work is intersting today.... It has been a little quiet lately and I am getting bored...:rotfl:NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
morning all.
i really want to be asleep , but my 3 yr old woke me up asking for a drink and now i'm awake i find it hard to go back to sleep.
i have a pile of laundry to iron and it is staring at me . so trying to forget it is there. we finally got hot water back yesterday after 5 days . it is wonderful. never realsied how i took for granted such a small thing.
we were going into town today , but not sure now as i transfered some money and it still hasn't cleared ahhhhh so bit skint until it does. oh well i guess it stops me spending money on things i don't really need.
my in-laws are coming round tonight for a game of cards which will be nice.
for brekkie today i think toast maybe porriage ( i'm so hungary)
lunch - pittas or toasted sandwich
dinner - cheese , onion and potato pie . with hm nuggets . ( odd combo but trying to use up thing's.)

PP - we are also going to see Night at the Museum today, I do like Ben Stiller and also Ricky Gervais.
We are having lunch after then I will be coming home to clean the house. It has been thoroughly tidied so will make it easier to clean. Also hope to do a couple of loads of washing. Need to do some ironing later but have a friend who might come over and visit so will see what time he goes and how I feel. Might do it tonight watching the Doctor Who we sky+ on Xmas day.
Think have eaten too much chocolate & rich stuff, feel a little naseaus (sp?) at the mom, need to get back to our normal diet but it will be hard as there is so much leftover (I did cut back this year - need to cut back more next year).
Off to finish coffee and have a bath. See you later.0 -
